MISSION BAY PARKS NP1-NP2
Location: San Francisco, CA
Client: Catellus Urban Development Group
Services:Geotechnical
The development of these shoreline parks includes a pile-supported water overlook
structure, hinged slab walkways, geofoam landforms, concrete flatwork, paver sections,
shoreline slope stabilization, a mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) retaining wall, and
light poles. Langan Treadwell Rollo performed a geotechnical investigation and services
during construction, including observation of pile driving, placement of geofoam, site
grading, subgrade preparation, and installation of the MSE wall.

Client: Urban Housing Group
The site development consists of four stories of wood-frame residential units over two
lower levels of concrete that will primarily be used for parking. Langan Treadwell Rollo
explored the subsurface conditions and performed engineering analyses to provide
conclusions and recommendations for axial and lateral pile capacities, site settlement,
and seismic design.

Client: Signature Properties
The site development consists of a six-story, concrete, residential building. Langan
Treadwell Rollo explored the subsurface conditions and performed engineering
analyses to provide conclusions and recommendations for axial and lateral pile
capacities, site settlement, and seismic design. The building is supported on concrete
piles driven to bedrock, approximately 165 below the ground surface. During
construction we observed installation of concrete piles, site grading, and utility trench
backfill.

MISSION BAY - BLOCK 28
Client: Catellus Mixed-Use Group
The site development consists of a new six-story, concrete, L-shaped commercial
building, with a landscaped plaza. Langan Treadwell Rollo performed the geotechnical
investigation, including recommendations for pile foundations and site improvements.
Langan Treadwell Rollo also reviewed plans and specifications and provided
construction observation.

MISSION CREEK PARK - P1
Client: Catellus Urban Development
This park site development at Mission Bay consisted of slope grading, shoreline
protection, landscaping, installation of walkways, utilities, and the construction of a cafe.
Langan Treadwell Rollo performed a geotechnical investigation and construction
observation. Geotechnical issues included settlement, liquefaction, and slope stability.
Percolation tests were performed to evaluate permeability for landscape irrigation.

MISSION BAY LIFE SCIENCE BUILDING
Client: Alexandria Real Estate Equities
Services:Geotechnical; Environmental
Part of the new Science and Technology Campus in Mission Bay, the site development
consisted of a new 150,000-SF, five-story steel-framed building. Langan Treadwell
Rollo performed a geotechnical investigation and provided geotechnical consultation
and plan review services during development of the construction documents.
Environmental consultation services were also provided to design drawings for a
passive methane collection and venting system.

UCSF, MISSION BAY - CAMPUS HOUSING (BUILDING 20)
Langan Treadwell Rollo performed the geotechnical investigation for Building 20 at the
new UCSF campus. The proposed project, which contains 298,800 square feet of
residential space, includes four separate buildings.

MISSION BAY PARKS NP3-NP5
Client: Catellus Urban Development Group

Services:Geotechnical; Earthquake/Seismic
Shoreline Parks NP3-NP5 in Mission Bay were developed with several new structures,
including a maintenance building, a kayak storage facility, and pedestrian bridges that
cross over a drainage swale. During the geotechnical investigation, Langan Treadwell
Rollo evaluated seismic hazards and slope stability. Site specific issues were
considered including the potential for liquefaction and consolidation settlement of Bay
Mud.

J. DAVID GLADSTONE INSTITUTE
Client: J. David Gladstone Institute

As the environmental remediation design consultant for Gladstone, Langan Treadwell
Rollo prepared drawings and specifications for a methane ventilation system to mitigate
the accumulation of methane gas. A geotechnical investigation was performed and
geotechnical recommendations were performed for this six-story laboratory and
research facility.
