(These are not guaranteed!) __________________________________________________________________ Daryn Freedman, AAU Program Director and Head Coach: Coach Daryn Freedman has served on the staff of the New Jersey Nets and Philadelphia 76ers of the NBA as well as Division 1 Schools University of Memphis, UMass, Northeastern University and most recently Duquesne University. Freedman served as Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Duquesne University, where he signed two straight National Top 25 Recruiting Classes, including the 2006-07 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year. Freedman has also served as Head Coach at Brimmer and May School in Boston, Massachusetts, where he led his team to four straight league championships and the New England Prep School Championship in his four seasons at the school. Freedman has coached andworked with top players such as Chris Paul, Lebron James and DwyaneWade. In the Summer of 2009, Coach Freedman was named the Head Basketball Coach at the Kiski School in Saltsburg, PA. Kiski School is a boarding school for boys in 9th through 12th grade and Post Graduates.The Basketball team has been ranked among the Top 25 Prep Basketball Teams in the country by many National Polls in all 3 of Coach Freedman’s season at the school. Prior to starting his coaching career, Freedman was a member of the 1996 UMass Men's Basketball Team that advanced to the NCAA Final Four. Freedman earned a degree in Sports Management at the University of Massachusetts and a Law degree at Seton Hall Law School in New Jersey. Coach Freedman currently serves as the President and Director of Basketball Stars of America LLC, which provides year round basketball programs in the Western Pennsylvania area. Coach Freedman and his wife Dana reside in Robinson Township with their daughter Hannah and son Max. Coach Freedman’s 17 & Under Basketball Stars of America Elite team wound up winning the 2009 AAU National Classic Championship in Orlando after winning 7 games in a row. Steve Brodzinski, Director of Basketball Operations and Head Coach: Coach Steve Brodzinski joined Basketball Stars of America in the Summer of 2009 and has done a tremendous job since. Coach Brodzinski played College Basketball at NYU and then coached College Basketball at both Clarion University and at Division 1 NJIT. Coach Brodzinski is considered one of the top young coaches and instructors in the nation and leads the BSA Individual Skill Development program. In 2010, Coach Brodzinski founded The Pittsburgh Basketball Report, which covers High School Basketball in Western Pennsylvania. Because Thiero had a medical redshirt one season, he transferred to Duquesne University, where he spent one season as a graduate student and member of the Men’s Basketball team.Thiero played a major role in Duquesne’s upset wins over Boston College and St. Louis, scoring big baskets down the stretch in each game.Thiero helps direct the Basketball Stars of America year round development programs has coached successful Basketball Stars of America AAU teams the past 2 seasons. All Basketball Stars Teams are coached by professional coaches.Basketball Stars recruits around the country 12 months a year to find the best coaches available. Over 2,500 Boys & Girls Basketball Players from Western Pennsylvania, Central Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio and West Virginia have played on Basketball Stars of America AAU teams in the Springs & Summers of 2008 through 2011. Basketball Stars Teams have won more than 125 Tournament Championships and over 2,500 games in the last 4 seasons. Basketball Stars Teams play in many of the top tournaments in the area.Older High School Teams travel around the country. Basketball Stars of America teams play in more tournaments than any other program in this part of the country! Currently, over 60 Basketball Stars of America alumni are playing at the Division 1, 2 and 3 College Basketball Levels. Basketball Stars of America has expanded to include players from many areas and of many different levels by adding some great new practice sites. At least half of each Basketball Stars practice will focus on individual skill development! Basketball Stars of America has been named the Official Elite AAU Basketball Program of Western Pennsylvania and has also been named a Nike Elite Basketball Program, one of less than 50 in the USA! Tryout cost is $40 per player if pre-registered by January 31, 2012 or $50 after.If the player makes a team and chooses to play, this fee will go towards the season tuition. All Players that are trying out only need to attend one tryout sessions, however may attend as many as they want at as many different sites as they want at no extra cost! They are Sewickley Academy in Sewickley, Hillcrest Christian Academy in Bethel Park, Kiski (Prep) School in Saltsburg, Shady Side Academy in Pittsburgh/Fox Chapel and Family First Sports Park in Erie. We will also be using these as our main practice sites this season. Players and their parents may choose which of these sites they would like to practice at. Please look below for Tryout Dates and Times. * Cost of tryouts is $40 per player if pre-registered by January 31, 2012 and $50 per player if registering after that. This is a one-time fee and players may attend as many tryouts as they would like to. We prefer players attend at least 2 tryouts and encourage players to attend as many as possible, however only 1 is necessary. All players who attend tryouts will be notified via email within 2 weeks of their first tryout whether they made a team. If they do make a team, the tryout fee will go towards their season tuition. Many players prepare for their tryouts and the upcoming season by doing the AAU Open Gyms, Boot Camps, Academies, Elite Workouts and other Development Programs throughout the next 3 months including all tryout days.. There is an extra cost of $35 per player for each of these sessions (You may also purchase 5 sessions for $150, 10 sessions for $250 or 20 sessions for $400). We are expecting over 1,000 Basketball Players to try out for Basketball Stars this spring!
