We commissioned artist Tom Fritz to paint an original 1937 in a country view,
“the way it was”, set in the back roads of Texas or Oklahoma. Bob’s original
idea was to have the scene in front of a soda fountain but Tom thought that
had been already done too many times and wanted something different. This
pencil sketch by Tom is the one that was chosen to base the painting on. We
think he really hit the mark and his painting genuinely depicts the mood of
the whole era with its hometown feel.

Dual Exhaust Manifold
During the Ford Flathead V8 era, the cops and track racers all knew that if you were chasing a Ford, you’d better be in a Ford.
Most law enforcement and emergency vehicle suppliers chose the Ford with its powerful V8, and with these specially built cars
came high-performance exhaust systems. These manifolds are the single most effective way to increase horsepower through
vastly improved exhaust flow, because the key is changing the stock single-exhaust to dual-exhaust. Our driver’s-side manifolds
offer a correctly angled outlet port allowing the pipe to connect toward the rear of the car instead of toward the front which
originally connected the cross-over pipe creating a bottleneck in the restrictive single-exhaust system. With enlarged passages
and improved flow routes, these manifolds also reduce engine heat offering longer engine life even under extreme conditions.
Ours are made using high-grade, precision cast iron, just like the rare, special order units of decades ago. Each includes block-off
plate for RH exhaust manifold crossover-pipe inlet.

Banjo Fittings
How cool are these! For perfect proportions, we make them from big
diameter stainless steel material with a recess lip on each side to hide the
gasket and move the bolt head closer to the banjo. We kept the wrench
surfaces short, knocked the corners off the hex and rounded the bolt
head too. They’re sized to fit both 5/16" and 3/8" hose, with plenty of fuelflow guaranteed. Do not use with 3x2 Stromberg progressive linkage
kits.

Throttle & Choke Screws

If you’re removing the choke or throttle plates,
new screws are a must. The hollow ends allow
them to be staked on the back to prevent
shaking loose.

Look at your throttle shaft. It’s 70 years old, worn to hell and causing a
vacuum leak! This is the 97/81 style, but it works with 48 and 40 models
if you use the 9526-97 accelerator pump rod. The bushings compress on
installation so ream them through (0.278") to insure the correct clearance.

I’d like to put the story straight. I’m sure a number of you have heard rumors and stories about this
project, but here’s the conclusion:
We invested a great amount of time and money on this project. We supplied original car bodies,
numerous parts and technical support. We put together a tremendous marketing plan and did
everything we could to deliver.
Our partner in this venture didn’t feel that we were selling an adequate amount of parts and then they
lost hope in our potential to sell complete bodies. We could not agree on who would be responsible for
the final assembly of the body. So, this company decided they would not continue our relationship and is
no longer producing parts/bodies for us.
I’m very disappointed that my dream of building a complete 1940 coupe body will not come true, not
only for myself but for the whole Drake team. They all have done a wonderful job on the ‘40 project.
I apologize to our many customers and potential customers that had hopes of owning a Drake ‘40 coupe
and I want to thank the many customers that helped support us during this project by buying and
installing ‘40 coupe sheet metal parts.
We’ll still continue with all the other ’40 parts that we’re so well known for and the Drake team looks to
the future on the horizon, as there are so many more things still to be done. Trust that our team will give
you the very best service and quality out there.
