Big Woods Family Newsletter November 2012 576! The 3rd annual Grandparent & Special Friend Lunch was a huge success. Guests joined students for lunch on October 8th to 11th. After lunch, they were invited to classrooms for a short visit. Thanks to the PTO for organizing volunteers, to the office staff for managing the RSVPs, and to the cooks & custodians for accommodating 500+ extra diners. November Volunteers: 334 as of 10/16 Conferences are Thursday, November 1st and Thursday, November 8h. Each family is allotted one 15 minute time slot per child. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have not already scheduled a time. Reminder labels with a conference date and time were sent home in planners. Research indicates that families who are involved with their child’s education directly influence whether that child is successful in school or not. Parents who have SchoolView accounts are encouraged to verify email and phone numbers. School closing information will also be announced on radio stations WCCO AM 830 and KRWC AM 1360 (Buffalo) and TV stations 4, 5, 9, and 11. Every effort will be made to sustain regular hours and programs. If busses can operate, schools will be open. Schools will not close due to severe cold; schools will close only if it is too cold to start busses or if roads are impassable. Inclement Weather STMA has a mass notification system that will call and email you regarding school closings or late starts.
