The opening concert of the Symphonyʼs 64th summer season in Worcester, with an Independence Day theme
featuring works primarily by American composers, highlights from celebrated Broadway musicals, and fireworks with
Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, then Sousa marches, played during the course of the fireworks display. Myron Romanul,

Celebrated area keyboard artists play the
Orchestra's two magnificent pianos - its vintage
1902 Steinway Model "C" concert grand piano and
the new Steinway Model "B" concert grand, in
Tuckerman Hall. With pianists Malcolm Halliday,
Kallin Johnson, Sima Kustanovich, Dick Odgren,
Olga Rogach, Myron Romanul, and Ian Watson.

MECHANICS HALL HOLIDAY 'POPS'

A beloved Worcester tradition, this concert (sold out for the past
34 years!) highlights the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra,
conducted by Alton Baggett, performing classic symphonic
works, selections from Broadway musicals, and favorite music of
the holiday season. Performers include area choruses (Anna
Maria College, Assumption College, Clark University, Worcester
State University, and WPI), vocal soloist Jane Shivick, an
aerialist, and dancers, plus a visit by Santa Claus. (Broadcast
