Tom McMahon serves as Managing Director for Sperry Van Ness/
McMahon & Associates, LLC, a full service commercial real estate
brokerage company in the Charlotte, North Carolina region. With more
than 25 years of experience in the real estate industry, his career
transaction volume exceeds $750 million.
Prior to affiliating with Sperry Van Ness, McMahon served as owner and
broker in charge of Newport Commercial and pioneered the concept of a
real estate company focusing exclusively on the commercial business in
the Lake Norman area. Previously, he spent several years as a top
residential agent while cultivating his passion for the commercial real
estate sector.

Sperry Van Ness
Active in his profession, McMahon holds the Certified Commercial
Investment Member (CCIM) designation; is heavily involved in several
local chambers of commerce and has been a board member for Lake
Norman Chamber; serves on the advisory board for NAR REALTOR’S
Commercial Alliance, NAR Educational Task Force; and was
instrumental in starting the Lake Norman Economic Development
Corporation. He also serves on various committees related to the
commercial real estate industry, is a board member of Charlotte’s
Commercial Board of Realtors and serves as Technology Chairman and
is on their membership committee.
Awards include: the prestigious Lake Norman Business Person of the
Year award in 2001; the Business Journal’s 40 under 40 award in 2002;
acknowledgement as one of Charlotte’s largest commercial real estate
companies; and recognition as one of Charlotte’s Top 20 Power Brokers.
McMahon is also active in his community. He is involved with the March
of Dimes and was named Person of the Year at the March of Dimes Lake
Norman Commercial Real Estate Testimonial in 2006. He was
instrumental in starting the Brawley Youth Athletic Association Midget
Football League in Mooresville, North Carolina, where her resides.
McMahon is known among local reporters in his area as the “go to guy”
for expert opinions and advice for stories involving Commercial Real
Estate. According to his clients, whether large or small, there is a
consistent belief that he is an upfront, honest advisor with integrity and
an unsurpassed level of service.
