Here’s what you need to know We’ve been hard at work preparing our dances and music numbers for this years Christmas With B2D, and we’re so excited to share our holiday cheer with you! Here’s some helpful info… -Tickets for the show go on sale November 16th. You can go online to www.cuttinghall.org to purchase tickets, or stop in the Cutting Hall box office - Letters regarding costumes and rehearsal times will be sent home the week of November 9th -The show will be on Saturday, December 12th @ 6:30pm at The Cutting Hall Theatre in Palatine If you have any questions or show conflicts, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help! B2D ACCEPTING THANKSGIVING FOOD DONATIONS B2D will be participating in the Palatine Thanksgiving Baskets program to help provide meals for families in need. You can help by donating canned food and other non perishable foods, or by contacting the village and registering to build your own basket! If you want to participate but don’t want to register for your own basket, feel free to drop any donated items off to B2D, and we will take care of the rest! Thank you! Thanks to everyone who participated in the Frontier Soups Fundraiser! We won’t have all the numbers back for a few weeks, but we hope that together our combined efforts can keep the cost of recital tickets down. Email us and let us know what you think of the soups and fundraiser overall! Performance Reminder If you didn’t catch the last issue of our newsletter, two B2D students Miss Grace Wiltgen and Miss Jackie Bechtold have auditioned for and won parts in the prestigious Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker! They will be performing in the Sunday 3:00pm show on December 6th at the Rosemont Theatre and would love seeing you there! We’ve had some hiccups with our apparel supplier as they’ve undergone some structural changes in their company, but we should very soon have our order forms for this years round of Spirit Wear orders. We will have some classic B2D pieces, as well as some new items to be featured such as car decals and pullover sweaters. Spirit wear makes for great gifts, and is one of the best ways to help spread the word and support B2D so we may go on to serve future generations for many years to come! B2D Spirit Wear Going On Sale Orders will be ready for pick up the week of December 14th. Studio Closings Say hi to Mr. Dean! We are closed on the following days this month… Dean Radzik has been a teacher at the legendary Drum Pad in downtown Palatine for over 20 years. As we say our final farewells to the retiring Drum Pad, we are also saying hello to one of their expert musicians and teachers. You guessed it: Mr. Dean Radzik! We can’t express how excited we are to have him join our staff of teachers, and how grateful we are to Jim Streich at the Drum Pad for bringing him to us. Thanksgiving: Thursday, November 26th and Saturday, November 28th Classes will resume Monday, November 30th Pampered Chef Party at b2d B2D is hosting a Pampered Chef party here at the studio! Come Friday, November 6th at 6:30pm to browse new and classic items and order some new gear for your kitchen. Can’t make the party, but still want to place an order? No problem, email us your order and we’ll be sure to get it placed. All order must be in by November 10th. Featured Artist of The Month: Dean Radzik There’s Dean! Dean Radzik is a graduate of the Berklee School of Music in Boston and has been teaching at the Drum Pad for over 20 years. Before attending Berklee, Dean studied privately throughout grade and high school with the Drum Pad’s owner, Jim Streich. Dean’s educational book, Lead Sheet Interpretation, was published shortly after his graduation from Berklee. Dean has played in a wide variety of talented original and eclectic bands including, Who’s This Mary (Brit Pop) where they toured throughout the Midwest and performed two tours of England. He also recorded the drums on their critically acclaimed album, Writhe and Shine. Dean’s creative approach to drumming added just the right spice to the band Mojo and the Bayou Gypsies (New Orleans Cajun). He also performed for several years with Unky J (Art Rock), performing their “At Midnight” show at the Organic Theater with the Improv Olympics. Dean has toured the U.S. with the world renown Jellyeye Drum Theatre (percussion/dance/conceptual performance troupe), receiving stellar reviews in the press as well as from appreciative audiences nationwide. Dean has performed at the Vic, Metro, Empty Bottle, the Old Town School of Folk Music and many more large local venues. Currently, Dean plays drums and percussion throughout Chicago with the traditional country band, Dirty Green. Dean has a great love of jazz, mallets and percussion, as well as all creative styles of music and drumming. He always strives to instill that appreciation in his students.
