2010 Annual Report
UNITED BY PASSION. FUELED BY DREAMS.
MISSION:
The NASCAR Foundation embodies the compassion of the NASCAR Family and its
commitment to serving communities. The NASCAR Foundation seeks to raise funds and increase
volunteerism to support nonprofit charities and charitable causes throughout the nation with an
emphasis placed on initiatives that affect the ability of children to live, learn and play.
IMPACT: Since 2006, The NASCAR Foundation has helped provide medical treatment for more than
20,000 children annually at Speediatrics, fulfilled more than 500 NASCAR Dreams, sent more than
1,000 kids to Victory Junction camp, recruited 12,000 fans to become part of a Volunteer Network
and created educational opportunities for school-aged students that help to engage them in science
and engineering programs.

A Letter From Our Chairwoman
Dear Friends,
We are so thankful for the support of the
NASCAR fans, drivers, teams, tracks and sponsors
who made 2010 such a success for The NASCAR
Foundation.
With your help, we contributed more than
$3.3 million in program services to nonprofit
organizations across the country and united a
record number of volunteers in community service.
Many of these efforts directly affected the lives of
children in a positive way.
A growing emphasis on volunteer service in
Betty Jane France with grandson
and driver, Ben Kennedy
2010 resulted in the completion of more than
6,000 volunteer service hours – with the majority of
these hours committed in support of the NASCAR
Day “Big Five” service projects. As the foundation’s largest volunteer effort to date,
close to 1,000 volunteers worked to benefit more than 35,000 children across the
country through NASCAR Day efforts.
We were also proud to celebrate a decade of caring at Speediatrics with the
complete renovation of the Halifax Health-Betty Jane France Center for Pediatrics in
Daytona Beach – another big milestone. Thanks to all the industry partners who united
in support of this project, children will continue to receive world class treatment in an
energetic, NASCAR-themed environment.
With your continued involvement, The NASCAR Foundation’s dedication to
volunteerism and raising funds for children’s charities and charitable causes throughout
the nation will continue to grow.
We are extremely grateful that you have united with us to demonstrate how much
you believe in the meaningful work we are trying to accomplish.
Sincerely,
THE NASCAR FOUNDATION

Remembering The
NASCAR Foundation Board
Member Jim Hunter
As a founding member of The NASCAR
Foundation’s Board of Directors, Jim
Hunter was a driving force in the
launch of The Foundation as well as its
continued growth throughout the years.
The expertise that
Jim brought to The
NASCAR Foundation
was a direct result of his
over 40 years of being
a part of NASCAR. His
vision for the future
and compassion for the
causes that are a part of the NASCAR
community have played an integral role
in bringing The Foundation’s mission into
the mainstream. As a devoted member
of the Development Committee on
the Board, Jim’s wisdom, guidance and
direction will be sorely missed.

Chairwoman, The NASCAR Foundation

NASCAR DAY
NASCAR Fans Unite Through Volunteer Service On NASCAR Day
In Rock Hill, S.C. outside of
Charlotte, NASCAR celebrities and
other volunteers participated in a
service project at A Place For Hope, a
center in one of the poorest communities
in the state providing resources, training and
job development, and psychological hope for
local residents. The volunteers helped renovate the
playground, perform grounds maintenance and deliver
laundry baskets full of supplies to each family in the community.
In 2010, close to
1,000 volunteers
dedicated 4,284 hours
of community service
through NASCAR Day
to touch the lives of
more than 35,000
children across the
country
4
In Fontana, Calif. Auto
Club Speedway hosted the
first-ever “Jaylen’s Car Wash”
in an effort to make one little
boy’s, and thousands of other
children’s dreams, come
true. Jaylen is a Loma Linda
University Children’s Hospital
heart patient whose dream is
to become a NASCAR Driver.
Funds raised benefitted
The NASCAR Foundation
and Loma Linda University
Children’s Hospital.
NASCAR DAY
In Daytona Beach, Fla., Bank of
America, the Official Bank of NASCAR,
The NASCAR Foundation and former
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion
Rusty Wallace hosted 100 middle
school students at Daytona International
Speedway for a day of educational
activities designed to highlight the critical
role that science, technology, engineering
and math (STEM) play in NASCAR.
In Kansas City, Mo. NASCAR Official Series Partner
Sprint and The NASCAR Foundation united hundreds of
volunteers to build a brand new playground at the Ronald
McDonald House of Kansas City, which serves more than
6,000 families per year. The playground is dedicated in
memory of Tom Murphy, a former Sprint executive and
NASCAR Foundation Board Member who passed away in
2009.
In Atlanta, Ga. volunteers renovated a room to help give
it a new racing theme at the Aflac Cancer Center and
Blood Disorders Service of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
The Aflac Cancer Center treats more than 350 new cancer
patients each year and follows more than 2,500 patients with
sickle cell disease, hemophilia and other blood disorders.

NASCAR DREAMS
A Jubilant Celebration
Racing With A NASCAR Superstar
Taylor Day, a high school student from Las Vegas, Nev., was chosen
out of all the students in her school to attend a Pole Position event in Las
Vegas, Nevada and meet NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Driver Kurt Busch.
Taylor is a part of a group of students who study the STEM curriculum.
Taylor could hardly contain her excitement. “It was actually one of the
best experiences I’ve ever had in my life so far,” Day said.
Her favorite portion of the night was racing side-by-side with Busch on a
small go-cart track. Day described Kurt Bush as one of the best drivers in
the sport and when she met him she was “star struck.”
“I am very grateful that I was chosen (to participate in this event) and it
was a significant experience in my life.”
6
The NASCAR Foundation hosted 1,400 students
at the NASCAR Hall of Fame for the Carolinas Freedom
School Jubilee. The Jubilee was a celebration of 10 years of
serving at-risk students with a mission to engage, educate
and empower
children through
educational
enrichment
programs.
The Carolinas
Freedom School
Jubilee raises
much-needed
funds for the
non-profit
organization
while showcasing the literacy-based, summer-learning
opportunity offered to children free of charge. The NASCAR
Foundation served as one of the event sponsors along with
support from numerous community advocates.
NASCAR DREAMS
Learning The Business Of NASCAR
As a follow up to the NASCAR Day service project at A Place for
Hope, kids from the Blackmon Road Community in Rock Hill, SC, visited
NASCAR Plaza to learn a little more about the business of NASCAR.
NASCAR employees shared stories about the vital role that education
has played in their career successes. The speakers shared some great
advice with the kids - explaining the importance of setting goals and
choosing career paths based on things you are passionate about.
After hearing from the speakers, watching a short NASCAR video
and enjoying lunch, the kids were also able to visit the NASCAR Hall
of Fame for a fun-filled afternoon of learning about the history of
NASCAR.
Meeting
Their Heroes
Each weekend at
the track, some of our
youngest fans are getting
once-in-a-lifetime VIP
Experiences to fulfill
lifelong dreams of
meeting their favorite
NASCAR drivers and
getting a behind-thescenes glimpse into the
world of NASCAR.

The Nascar Foundation Celebrates A Decade
Of Caring At Speediatrics With Renovation
The Halifax Health - Betty Jane France Center for Pediatrics,
otherwise known as Speediatrics, celebrated the beginning of a new
decade of caring by unveiling a
complete renovation of the children’s
unit in Daytona Beach, Fla.
The renovation of the NASCARthemed unit was accomplished with
the help of NASCAR sponsors 3M
and Best Buy as well as Vomela
Motorsports, Akzo Nobel Paints
LLC and K’NEX. The Jimmie
Johnson Foundation and Juan and
Connie Montoya’s Formula Smiles
Foundation also supported this very
important cause.
The renovation included a new nurse’s station, as well as new
flooring, lighting and furniture for the kids and teen rooms. The
Speediatrics décor has been updated with child-friendly decorations
on the walls and ceiling featuring custom Speediatrics cartoon
characters. Also included is a new donor wall complete with a new
video display and the restoration of the iconic signature wall that
includes autographs from drivers who have visited the unit over the
years.

Providing Hope
For The Future
The NASCAR Foundation and The
V Foundation for Cancer Research
together committed $500,000 toward
the 18-bed in-patient unit that sees
approximately 14 pediatric patients a
day with an estimated 130 oncology
patients, 30 bone-marrow-transplant
patients, 15 solid-organ-transplant
patients, 30 rheumatology/immunology
patients and 50 sickle cell patients per
year. The unit allows young patients to
have easier access to their primary care
physicians during treatments.

INDUSTRY ENGAGEMENT
Rusty’s Roast of
Richard Childress
Iowa Speedway was
the site of a very special
night to honor and
celebrate the career of
one of NASCAR’s most
successful team owners,
Richard Childress. Former
NASCAR Champion and
NASCAR Foundation
Board Member Rusty
Wallace and NASCAR
Nationwide Series driver
Kenny Wallace served
as hosts of Rusty’s Roast
of Richard Childress
presented by Musco Lighting.
Some of Childress’ closest friends including Featherlite Trailers CEO
Conrad Clement, Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
driver Clint Bowyer, NASCAR President Mike Helton and former crew
chief for Dale Earnhardt and SIRIUS NASCAR Radio host Chocolate
Myers united to share their favorite Childress stories from the past and
celebrate key moments from Childress’ illustrious career, including the record 11 car owner
championships and the six championships he won with legendary driver Dale Earnhardt.
Sailfish Cup
Invitational
Honorary event chairman
Mike Helton hosted the
Sailfish Cup Award’s Gala
with silent and live auctions
benefitting The NASCAR
Foundation and Speediatrics
at Homestead Hospital.
Through this annual
celebration following two
action-packed days of
competitive fishing at The
Sailfish Cup, the event has
raised over $440,000 for
charity.
These tracks support their local
communities through funds at
The NASCAR Foundation.

Tom Murphy Memorial
Golf Classic
On September 30, 2010, Sprint
hosted the first
annual Tom Murphy
Memorial Golf
Classic in Kansas City,
an event inspired
by the spirit of Tom
Murphy and the
values that defined
a large portion of his
life: optimism, building and renewing
valued relationships, and supporting
deserving charitable
organizations. Proceeds
from the event benefited
The NASCAR Foundation
as well as American Red
Cross, Thomas E. Murphy, III
Scholarship Fund, Turning Point
and Victory Junction.
Taylor’s Finish Line Festival
Over 5,000 guests attended Taylor’s Finish Line Festival in May 2010 to celebrate the completion of
Taylor Gibbs’s cancer treatment. Taylor, the grandson of NASCAR Team Owner Joe Gibbs, enjoyed celebrity
status as members of the NASCAR community raised funds to support Make-A-Wish Foundation and Levine
Children’s Hospital. The NASCAR Foundation hosted an online auction of NASCAR memorabilia and VIP
experiences which raised nearly $100,000 for the event.
