A testimonial from Caleb
04 Dec 13
Good morning Steve, the OutBack (CrossOver chassis
with modular pockets) has truly surprised me in both
comfort and ability to take an impact with little pain. In
the past I've looked into getting a TekVest but didn't
due to thinking it would be uncomfortable and bulky
when riding. This was not the case and I found it to be
even more comfortable wearing it then without. I love
the supported feel and it gives me more confidence on
my sled. I haven't had any major wrecks or incidents
but I somehow managed to roll a sled into a tree with
me pinned in between. At a minimum it saved bruised
ribs and pain. I put around 25 days on the TekVest last
year and don't plan to ride without it any this
year…………………………………………………………..

I use the OutBack Stealth pack that it came with. I
carry the necessities but try to keep it as light as
possible. I carry spare belts, plugs and related on my
sled along with my probe pole and shovel. In the
backpack I carry water, snacks, first aid kit, survival
kit, tow rope, folding saw, a little camera gear, flash
light, extra gloves and clothing, spare tether and

some other small things you would expect a guy to carry
for sledding. I don't know the exact weight of the
extras that I carry but I would guess around 5-10lbs. I
always ride with a beacon. I have not worn an avi pack
and right now I don't have plans to. I think they are a
good idea but they're expensive and add extra weight
you have to carry. Plus I spend 90% of my day riding in
the trees where generally the snowpack is more
anchored and less likely to slide. Thanks for making
such a comfortable product to ride with. Caleb
