Foreign Rights Catalogue Cruïlla is a publishing house specializing in books in the Catalan language for children and young adults. The company belongs to Grupo SM and shares its identity and work philosophy with all the companies belonging to the group. Since it was founded in 1984, Cruïlla has published fiction and non-fiction works sold in bookshops across Catalonia, as well as school textbooks. Our best-known collection of children’s literature is El Vaixell de Vapor, divided into four reading levels according to difficulty. This collection includes a wide range of the best children’s literature in Catalan and has been illustrated by over 200 Catalan illustrators. It also includes other notable works that have been translated into Catalan from other languages. Cruïlla also publishes in collaboration with editors and packagers from all over the world. These collaborative efforts have included series of titles such as Molly Moon and Captain Underpants, and work with authors such as David Grossman and Jenny Valentine. The Illustrator Xavier Salomó, born in Sabadell in 1976, has twice won the prestigious Junceda Prize, in 2006 and 2010. He has illustrated various books and has collaborated on projects both nationally and internationally. The Author The Author The Illustrator Luís Fillela has illustrated many books for young readers at the Editorial Cruïlla, as well as in other publishing houses. He lives in Barcelona, the city where he was born in 1961. Enric Larreula was born in Barcelona in 1941. He teaches Catalan language at the University and he has been both a children’s and young adult writer for many years. He has won many prizes for his work. Among them is the Gran Angular Prize, given every year by Editorial Cruïlla. Jordi Losantos Sistach is from a different world. Born in Barcelona in 1966, he is an engineer. In 2010, he did a writing workshop and it was there that this wonderful novel was born. He presented it anonymously to the Vaixell de Vapor Competition… and he won! The Illustrator The book is beautifully illustrated by Cristina Losantos, the author’s sister. She was born in Barcelona in 1960, and has a degree in Fine Arts. She has illustrated hundreds of books, posters and cartoons, and has been awarded several prizes. Book series: N.O.R.M.A.L.
