FPI aids producers in selecting sires whose progeny will perform in the feed yard and are sold on a grade and yield standpoint. Well ranking
sires for FPI have higher marbling and carcass weight than their contemporaries. The current average for FPI is $70.92 of potential pro¿t.
EPI aids producers in selecting more feed ef¿cient cattle that have acceptable amounts of gain. By selecting on this index, producers are
able to ¿nd those animals that gain the same amount as their contemporaries while eating less. Over time the AGA genetic trend for EPI has
signi¿cantly increased to an average of $103.41.
