Tried and capitally convicted for committing rape upon Louisa Bentley, aged 22, of Sheriff Hutton, servant at that Castle, as she was coming to York, in a field where she was walking, about 3 miles from Sheriff Hutton, on th Monday, 28 February, at 2.00pm. Next day Hewison taken to his quarters in the Pavement, and committed to the Castle. Concerned in an insurrection in the North, murdered the Earl of Northumberland and some of his servants, at Maiden Bower, Topcliffe, the seat of the Earl Tuesday, 31 March 1379.
