HIGHLIGHTING THE ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS OF STUDENT-ATHLETES The Blue Ribbon SPRING 2016 Reverend John R. Cortelyou Award Winners Six Programs Post Perfect Academic Progress Rates Gena Lenti from softball and Adrian Halimi from golf top the 2015-2016 senior class with their outstanding GPAs and receive the Reverend John R. Cortelyou Awards. Women’s basketball, men’s cross country, men’s golf, softball, women’s tennis and volleyball each recorded perfect rates and were recognized with Public Recognition Awards from the NCAA for having multi-year Academic Performance Rate scores in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sports. Women’s Basketball Excels Academically • Finished second in the Inside Higher Ed Academic National Tournament •Megan Podkowa and Jessica January were named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans—1st time two DePaul women’s basketball student-athletes were named Academic AllAmericans in the same year. Podkowa’s second-team honor is the highest CoSIDA academic honor in program history. •Jessica January was named the Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association (DI-AAA ADA) Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year—only the second in program history. •Megan Podkowa joined January on the DI-AAA ADA Scholar-Athlete Team. •Megan Podkowa named BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year and earns a $2,000 scholarship toward graduate or professional studies.
