PRESIDENTS REPORT.
Bob informed the members present of the items that were discussed at the Committee Meeting on
21st October 2015.
The matter of members turning up to rides without the appropriate licence for the class of
motorcycle they are riding was discussed. Please make sure that if you are going on a club
ride that you carry your driver’s licence, and you are riding the class of bike that you are licenced to ride.
Section 9 of the proposed new constitution was discussed as we work our way through the complete document a section at a time.
CAPTAINS REPORT
Murray Rudler spoke on behalf of the Pre 48 section about the upcoming Tiddlers Run on Sunday
22nd November 2015.
The ride will be a short run designed for small capacity machines, and includes all club eligible
small machines Devonshire tea will be served at Sharon and Muzza’s at the completion of the ride.
Boyanup will be a hive of activity being Fresh Market Day. The small antique and craft shops will
be open and there will be a Vintage Rail and Tractor Display at the SWRHC next to Meadowbrooke Estate.
Sounds like a fun day for everybody.
Please remember that there is no fuel in Boyanup.
Ararat Rally.
Murray said the recent rally in Ararat was an enormous success with a great representation from the
IHC and 17 bikes from WA. There was a total of 130 bikes attended the Rally.
There will be another rally in Ararat in 2 years’ time and perhaps one in WA in 6 years.
Mid-week Pm 14-10-2015 17 Riders 1 Passenger.
The morning weather was not to promising however, by lunchtime blue skies and sunny. Our visiting Vice-Captain Neville G. led the ride thru Dardanup, Boyanup, Donnybrook and Brookhampton
to Kirup for afternoon tea at the Cafe where Barry was waiting, having ridden from Balingup, as
well as John & I who as you know are using 4 wheeled transports at the moment. After lots of chatter riders departed via various routes. Great to see Tracy and John back amongst the fold after their
trip. Another member of the John chapter returns.
Margaret River Show 17-10-2015 18 bikes displayed.
Busselton Mid-week Ride 21-10-2015
Another perfect day for bike riding, the sun was shining, not to cold or not to hot. 16 bikes turned
out, 2 from Bunbury with one passenger, there were 5 eligible bikes.
After a dressing down from John about not following the leader (see last Busselton report) he lead
us of on the ride (after we assured him we would not abandon him again) to the Berry Farm via
Causeway Rd, Busselton Bypass, Queen Elizabeth Dr, Rendezvous Rd, Kaloorup Rd, Payne Rd,
Jindong Treeton Rd, Treeton Rd, Bussell Hwy, Cowaramup Bay Rd, Ellen Brook Rd, Caves Rd,
Redgate Rd, Bussell Hwy, Davis Rd, Rosa Glen Rd, Bessall Rd to the
5
Berry Farm where we enjoyed Coffee, jam cream and scones, some had boysenberry pies and icecream! All very nice.
After a chinwag we headed home along Rosa glen Rd, Rosa Brook Rd, (a few left us here to head
straight home) Bussell Hwy, Carters Rd, Caves Rd, Abbey Farm Rd, Wildwood Rd, Bussell Hwy
and Busselton Bypass arriving home about 1:30.
It was a very enjoyable ride with no mishaps or without losing any one.
Peter Whiteside
Brunswick Show 24-10-2015 18 Bikes displayed.
Roy's Hamburger Ride 25-10-2015 32 Riders 2 Passengers.
A bit cool and breezy in Bunbury for the beginning of the ride, 28 Riders & 2 passengers with 4
Busselton Boys joining up at morning tea stop. We were a bit surprised at the turn-out because of
events being held elsewhere but were very pleased at the number, as well as the riders there were
about another dozen or so at Muriel’s. Today Lyn & I had a very luxurious shed with power to set
up morning tea, thanks to Murray. Riders spent about an hour inspecting the petrol bowsers before
heading to Muriel’s for hamburger lunch and all sorts of other goodies. Once again enormous
thanks to Murray & Marilyn for hosting the club and also the Melvin family for hosting lunch in
memory of Roy. It was great day enjoyed by all. Not forgetting Eddie who did the back-up.
Mid-week AM 28-10-2015 20 Riders 1 Passenger.
With smoke from controlled burns making things a bit uncomfortable in Bunbury I was worried
that Myalup would also be smoked out. However, with Richard leading and Eddie tailing, the
group left on a bit of a meander to Myalup where there was no smoke but “FLIES” so you can't
win them all I guess. With help from today’s offsider, John P, we set up morning tea under a fantastic shelter at the Community Centre which had power as well this will definitely be added to the
list. After much eating, drinking, discussion and merriment everyone headed back towards smoky
Bunbury.
Albany Hill Climb and Classic Weekend
There was a good representation of IHC members 19 in all, so I was informed, with Glen Britza,
Russell Jeffery and Rod Chessell trophy recipients. Dan Lock featured in the poker run results,
having the 2nd best poker hand of the event.

Bill said that he needs Volunteers for the Charity Run on Sunday 12 th December, to help with traffic control erecting marques and tents, and also to sell badges etc. Help is needed at Dardanup, the
Picton lights, Number 4 carpark in Bunbury, the Truck Bay near the Roundabout on Estuary Drive
in Bunbury, and at the start of the ride at the Capel Fairground. There were a number of members
who volunteered at the meeting, but please if you weren’t at the meeting and are able to help contact Bill Pike. Bill will contact Bolt to work out the final design for the banners. Bill is looking for
a side car to carry Santa AKA Greg.

LICENSING LIAISON OFFICERS REPORT
Jeff said the replies to letters sent to Politicians regarding the Age debate have been positive and so
far encouraging, with them all being referred back to the Minister for Transport the Honourable
Dean Nalder. The Velocette Owners Club has sent a letter to The Equal Opportunities Commission. There has also been talk in the media of the introduction of “S” plates for senior drivers driven by QBE Insurance; hopefully this will fall dead in the water.

GENERAL BUSINESS
The Mandurah Mob Meander is on the 20th & 21st February 2016. This is a fantastic event organised by the Mandurah members and at just $50 per person for the weekend, which includes accommodation on Saturday night at Fairbridge Farm, Barbecue Saturday night and a cooked breakfast
Sunday morning it is not to be missed. That is besides the great ride, fantastic entertainment and
socialising. Members south of Mandurah who wish to attend please give your names and money to
Faye.
The SW MEGA MOTORING EXTRAVAGANZA organisers are anxious to know how many
bikes the IHC will be able to display on Sunday 15th May 2016 so that they can organise
enough space. If you are keen to display 1 or more motorcycles which can be from any era
(old and modern) please contact Faye ASAP [email protected].
Terry asked for a show of hands for members who can display bikes at the Busselton MOTORFEST on Sunday 29th November at Stuart Bovell Oval (north entry to Busselton) there will be
prizes for the oldest bike and also for the best presented restored bike. The exhibit fee on the day is
$10.00, but IHC members only need to show their Membership Card because an anonymous donor
is paying the entry fee for all IHC members, all proceeds from the event go to Charity.
Rod Chessell said that he attended the Albany Hill Climb and was disappointed at the number of IHC members who did not attend the evening meal catered for by the Albany Hill
Climb Committee. Rod brought a trophy back from the Hill Climb which was won for the
Best Presented Motorcycle, but did not know who the recipient was (? IHC member), so Bob
and John Presland will endeavour to get it to its rightful owner. The owner was found by
John Presland before this newsletter went to press.
Graeme Hammond on a 1918 Indian Board Track Racer from EAMC Best Presented Motorcycle.
Ray Boreham fell off his motorbike at the Hill Climb and was flown to RPH with 6 broken
ribs and a punctured lung.
Bernie McCormack mentioned that Eric (Bolt) Blyth has a number of Motorcycles for sale including a Matchless, BSA and Ariel, and some Army Bikes. Contact Bolt on 0419219909
7
Bernie has volunteered to do the Back-up for the Doug Brittain and Memorial Ride on Sunday 13th December 2015
Doug Craigie mentioned that he got his 650 Matchless out at the crack of dawn to display at the
Margaret River show. He was feeling pretty pleased about the way it was purring along when it just
stopped dead about 30 km’s out of Nannup, and he suddenly found himself in an embarrassing position on the side of the road trying to look like nothing was wrong.
Talking about embarrassing moments, apparently one of our members filled up his bike with
Diesel at the Albany Hill Climb.
Bill Pike has been asked by his mother to try and find his father’s Matchless Motorcycle. Mrs Pike
spent 6 years of her life on the back of it, and is keen to know whether it is still around. It is a 1950
500 G80s Matchless, and Bill has the original licence papers and everything for it. Bill has asked if
Jeff Smith can seek the member’s approval to search the data base of our 300 members, and see if
the bike is now owned by one of our members. If the Bike is in the Club and the owner does not
want to talk about it that is their business, the family just want to know whether the bike still exists.
The members present at the meeting agreed that searching the Club’s data base would not be an issue.
Terry Germain said that he has recently dumped a lot of motorbike wheels but he has kept
the hubs, at least 100 of them, so if anyone wants any of them they can contact Terry and
make an offer, and the money will go to the Club. Terry still has Route Sheet holders available
for sale. A few meetings back Terry brought a 19” knobbly tyre to the meeting to be auctioned, and it caused a lot of interest. Terry has about 8 more of these tyres which he has made
a list of, and if anyone is interested they can be purchased for $5 or $10 each, and the money
will be donated to the Club.
NEW MEMBER NOMINATIONS
The following people have applied for membership to our club. If any member believes is undesirable for the applicants to be members, they should make their objections known to the Secretary 5
clear days before the next ordinary meeting on 97971709 or PO Box 317 Bunbury WA 6231
George JOHNSON, Stewart DAWSON & Dave SINGLETON.

ALBANY HILLCLIMB AND CLASSIC WEEKEND
Short story for magazines from the coordinators point of view. After many weeks (month's!) of
preparation, dealing with bureaucrats, councils, stake holders, application forms, spread sheets, police, queries from participants, lots of email & telephone ping pong etc. the Classic Weekend finally
comes alive. It makes it all worthwhile on the Saturday when you see Stirling Terrace buzzing with
activity, throngs of curious people and lots of wonderful motorcycles parked up and down the street,
and again on Sunday seeing the big grinning faces of the contestants coming off the start line thrilling the onlookers with their antics.
Of course it would not be possible without the support of the many volunteers from within the club
and visitors alike, so a big thank you to all. Also the great response we get from the other clubs and
riders that visit Albany especially for this weekend event, complete the effort. Hard to estimate
numbers on the terrace but it was a large crowd and approx. 120 entered the poker run. On Sunday
during the course of the day, we had 350 ~ 400 spectators through the gate on the hill.

“RED DIRT RACERS”
Just thought there might be a few in the club interested in the book ‘Red Dirt Racers’ written by
Graeme Cocks on the history of the Lake Perkolilli dirt races from 1914 – 2014.
2014 marked the Centenary of Motor Racing at the Lake Perkolilli clay pan in Western Australia.
Crowds of people gathered at the original clay pan circuit at Kanowna near the Goldfields city of
Kalgoorlie, to celebrate this significant event. A definitive work on the history of motor racing at
'Perko' will be released early in 2016 to mark the Centenary celebrations. There will be more than
900 never before published photographs in over 500 pages. This is a lavish limited edition publication.
The book is called RED DIRT RACERS and will be released early in 2016.As there will be limited copies, they can be ordered at www.motoringpast.com.au or email: [email protected].
FOR SALE 1/ 1.

however as many of you are very partial to LEMON MERINGUE PIE over the traditional PLUM
PUDDING, Sylvanna has requested that you pre-order your preferred Desert so there will be no
disappointment on the night.
This Function being subsidised by the Club in appreciation of your support and efforts throughout
the year at the very low cost to yourself of $25.00per person.
Confirmation of your attendance would be greatly appreciated before Saturday November 28 th.
Hope you can join us.

1397 or GLENDA PATTERSON 0417 018 225 or you can register online.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT DRIVER’S LICENSE TO RIDE YOUR MOTORCYCLE!
The IHC Committee is concerned that members may be riding their bikes without the correct class
of driver’s license. This is not only breaking the Law, but leaves you and the Club in a very serious
position if something nasty happens on a club organized ride.
10
Please check your driver’s license Class and if incorrect take immediate steps to get the correct one
– all riders will be required to sign the new indemnity forms at all IHC rides stating that you are correctly licensed.
An answer to our official query to the Department of Transport is printed below:Please be advised, clients who have previously sat their R-E or R class practical riding assessment
on a 3 wheeled motor cycle and they have a restriction code 31 on their licence will need to re-apply
for the R-E or R class to get the restriction removed, if they wish to ride a standard motorcycle.
If they already hold an R-E or R class with no restrictions, they can ride a 3 wheel motorcycle. If
you hold R-E driver's licence, the client must be riding a LAMS approved motorcycle with an engine capacity not exceeding 660cc and with a power to weight ratio not exceeding 150 kw/t (with
foot or hand operated clutch).
If you hold an R class (open), a motorcycle with an engine capacity exceeding 660cc or a power to
weight ratio exceeding 150 kw/t (R class holders can ride any motorcycle), this includes a three
wheeled trike or Canam.
If the trike has been modified to fit a wheelchair, the engine capacity and the class of licence that
you hold is still the same as above.
If you require further information please do not hesitate to reply to this email. Alternatively, you can
