ADVENTURE AWAITS. A GLO B A L E D U C ATION CAN MAKE A WORLD of DIFFERENCE. INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE PROGRAMMES Only 7 schools in the United States with residential students offer the IB programmes. IB learners are independent thinkers and global citizens. They have a high level of cultural awareness and a breadth of knowledge that is the reward for studying two languages, humanities, science, mathematics, and the arts. Every student is enrolled in the International Baccalauereate Programmes at Riverstone, creating a unique environment of like-minded, motivated students. ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT Bayard B. Riverstone International School Class of 2014 Georgetown University Class of 2018 At Riverstone International School, my teachers encouraged me to not just do the work, but dive into the subject as a whole. “During my years at Riverstone, countless experiences shaped who I am. When I was struggling to write an essay about a novel we were reading, my English teacher told me, ‘A great writer reads ten times as much he or she writes.’ Since then, I have kept that in mind in every class. Whether I was analyzing French literature, staying an extra 30 minutes after history class to discuss a topic with my teacher, or conducting hands-on experiments in physics, I know diving into subjects made me a better student.” OUTDOOR EDUCATION Enjoy Idaho’s great outdoors, learn new skills and forge friendships that will help you succeed at Riverstone and prepare you for life beyond our doors. Backpacking through the mountains , rivers, and deserts of Idaho provide the perfect environment to help you acquire a repertoire of backcountry skills and life skills like compassion, determination, resilience, and independence. Outdoor trips also provide the perfect backdrop to build friendships that translate to positive interactions in the classroom. ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT Yunshu G. Riverstone International School Class of 2014 University of California San Diego Class of 2018 I learned that I could be an outdoor enthusiast and I will always remember my time at Riverstone. “The best thing about Riverstone International School was the cultural diversity in my classrooms. Even though I only attended Riverstone International School for two years, some of the highlights were rock climbing and the mountain bike club with teachers and friends.” NOT ALL CLASSROOMS HAVE WALLS. CLASSES SMALL ENOUGH for CONVERSATIONS. YOU HAVE TO BE HEARD TO FIND YOUR VOICE We want to hear your opinion and your perspective because that is how we learn from each other. Small classes lead to big opportunities to discuss commonalities among music genres, the novel your literature class is reading, or the latest scientific discovery in DNA mapping. We want to hear your opinion and the perspective that you bring to the group. You won’t get lost in the back of the class at Riverstone. But the best thing about small classes is that your teachers will have the chance to know you really well, encourage you, and support you in obtaining your dreams. ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT Mackenzie R. Riverstone International School Class of 2015 Stanford University Class of 2020 Opportunities to learn about our world in interesting and engaging ways are endless at Riverstone. Mackenzie travelled to Morocco for two months of intensive Arabic study, living with a host family prior to her junior year. She also shared her home with a Colombian student and, in turn, stayed with her family in Colombia. “Some of my greatest friends have come from all over the world, from France to Ethiopia to Korea. They have interesting and relevant opinions and insights that give an added dimension to the discussions we have in class.” BOISE: A CITY YOU CAN EXPLORE Whether you love coffeeshops, theater, rivers or the mountains, our city has something for everyone.
