Every year our second concert is devoted

to the winners of our young performers
competition from the North Shore of Nassau
County, and our new addition of the members of the Glen Cove High School
Select Chorale, who earlier this year performed for Pope Francis in Rome. This
is a great opportunity to see tomorrow’s stars perform today. We will also be
celebrating Sinatra at 100 and will pay tribute to “The King” Elvis Presley, The
Beatles, Rod Stewart and Dave Matthews.
New this year is our “Praise Music” concert, featuring the musical talent and
diversity that is found in the many houses of worship in Glen Cove. We are
fortunate to have such diversity within our small community and this concert is
a great opportunity to share in the rich traditions of our religious and spiritual
institutions.
So sit back, relax and enjoy a delightful evening of musical entertainment
under the stars.

Peter Yarrow
Morgan Park Summer Music Festival is
proud to present Peter Yarrow, a treasure
of American folk music: legendary
musician, songwriter and activist. His
career with Peter, Paul and Mary shares
and is part of American history. Yarrow
weaves a narrative through his music and
politics, punctuating our nation’s major
events with his iconic songs that we all
know and love.
Gathering Time
According to WFUV’s John Platt, “Gathering Time has harmonies that
can charm the birds out of the trees” with a “savvy repertory” that ranges from traditional folk to classic rock. Famed for original music as well
as covers, the group’s remake of Peter Yarrow’s Light One Candle has
been played on many stations including New York City’s WCBS-FM.
Don Bikoff
Don Bikoff’s acoustic guitar solos are heavily influenced by Delta
blues, American folk and Eastern classical music. His first album,
Celestial Explosion was re-released recently and won a spot on
WFMU’s playlist.
Matt Grabowski
Combining elements of folk, rock and blues, with lyrics that recall
Harry Chapin and Bob Dylan, singer/songwriter Matt Grabowski has
been taking Long Island by storm since his July 2014 solo debut.
Bryce Larsen
Glen Cove native Bryce Larsen is an Acoustic-Americana-soul artist
who uses live-looping to bring his serious guitar chops, powerful
vocals, and unique beat-boxing style together, creating an entirely
new type of one-man band.

2016 MORGAN PARK SUMMER MUSIC FESTIVAL
darkness, the beauty
of the harbor and
Long Island Sound
just beyond offers
an extraordinary
backdrop to the
stage. The
performers appear.
A magical evening
is about to begin.
And that magic has been happening here in Glen Cove
for more than a half century!
GLEN COVE, LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK
Many Long Island communities have cherished traditions but few
can boast of the longevity of an enterprise such as Morgan Park
Summer Music Festival.
Managed by a volunteer
committee and supported
entirely through donations
from individuals and local
businesses, this summer
MPSMF continues its beloved
tradition of free summer
concerts in Morgan Park into
a 57th season.
Morgan Park was donated to the people of Glen Cove in 1932 by
J.P. Morgan in memory of his wife. But it wasn’t until 1959, when
Joseph A. Suozzi was mayor of Glen Cove, that free concerts in
the park were suggested. Mayor Suozzi
enlisted Mrs. Richardson Pratt and she in
turn involved her friends and neighbors.
Morgan Park Summer Music Festival was
born beginning with one concert that
first summer, expanding over the years
to offer performances every weekend in
July and August. Eventually the park’s
charming gazebo proved to be inadequate for some of the larger concerts so
Marguerite (Marge) Suozzi and a team
of volunteers came up with strategies
that raised money for the beautiful new stage. The stage, as the
concerts, was funded entirely through private donations.
MPSMF has always enjoyed a close relationship with the City
of Glen Cove, neither asking for nor receiving financial support.
Season planning and meeting the budget
to present the concerts are entirely the
responsibility of the executive committee,
often with the assistance of members of the
advisory council. The executive committee
enjoys the leadership of longtime members
such as Margaret Minnick and Nancy Epstein
who, with Mrs. Suozzi, have been pivotal to
2016 MORGAN PARK SUMMER MUSIC FESTIVAL
the organization’s governance for decades, and others who
are newer supporters, bringing new talents to MPSMF. In the
fall of 2014, our long-time chairman, Mrs. Suozzi, with the
unanimous approval of the members of the executive
committee, passed the baton to her son, Tom Suozzi.
The Morgan Park Summer Music Festival message reaches
into the homes and businesses of
Glen Cove, the surrounding North
Shore communities and to wherever
festival fans have moved. Speaking of
the longevity of this remarkable
volunteer organization, Mrs. Suozzi,
now our chairman emeritus, said
“So many families have grown up
with the opportunity to see live
music and theatrical performances
in this idyllic setting.”
Thank You
TO ALL OUR VOLUNTEERS AND CONTRIBUTORS
FOR MAKING THIS EVENT POSSIBLE.
WE COULDN’T DO IT WITHOUT YOU!
