Thank you for your enquiry, it gives us great pleasure to provide you
with details of our Specimen Carp Membership, which runs from the
1st January to the 31st December. The membership fee for 2016
remains unchanged at £50, in addition you will then pay each time
you fish. Attached you will find permitted fishing times, rules and fishing charges. Should you wish to apply for membership, please complete the attached membership form giving us as much information
as possible, particularly regarding your fishing experience, so that we
can fully consider your application. Lastly, please do not forget to
include two passport photographs.
A few of the 2015 Noted Catches!
2015 started well on both Temple and the Old Lake with anglers making the most of the unseasonal mild weather conditions reporting catches from
as early as January with carp to 28 lb reported from the Old Lake and 34 lb 8 oz on Temple. Not surprisingly, March saw catches step up a gear
when Nemo was landed by John Keatley at its heaviest reported weight for years, an impressive 39 lb 5 oz, while Edward Kelly bagged Friar Tuck at
33 lb 8 oz.
Other BIG fish followed in April when one-time British grass carp record holder Phil Kingsbury landed the Double Row Linear at 35 lb 12 oz together
with a 30 lb common. Whilst on the Old Lake, Kirk Nodding, from Wandsworth, ended a three-year quest to land a 30 lb common and a 30 lb mirror
from the lake with the capture of a rarely banked 32 lb 6 oz mirror (see photo above) at the start of a week-long session. Kirk caught a 30 lb 2 oz
Old Lake common in May 2013, as part of a shared 91-carp haul in six days.
Historically one of the best months, May saw Gary Mintrim and Barry Wilkinson, from Coulsdon, share 31 carp for a total of 490 lb 12 oz from the Old
Lake, which included four 20s and 15 fish of over 18 lb whilst Mark Easton, from Leatherhead, caught one of the Old Lake's oldest resident, a 33 lb
mirror carp. Back on Temple, Tony Sawyers, from Westcott, banked Temple's Nemo, at the same weight as the previous capture six weeks before, 39
lb 5 oz (see photo above) whilst on a 24-hour session with his son, Sam. However, there was subsequently uncertainty over the weight, as Tony’s
digital scales had read 43 lb 12 oz, and he had thought that they hadn't been zeroed, so he deducted the weight of the sling, but it later transpired
that they had already done so!
And Temple's most distinctive resident, The Ghost, was banked at just ounces short of 40 lb, as part of a brace of 30s for Simon Longhurst. The 39
lb 4 oz fish (see photo above) was at its heaviest reported weight for five years (it was caught at 40 lb exactly by Barry Osbourn in May 2010), and
was accompanied by mirrors of 33 lb 7 oz and 22 lb 4 oz, and a 27 lb 8 oz common in a memorable 48-hour session for Simon. Clive Elson landed
the Double Row Linear at its best ever weight of 36 lb 10 oz, with a common of 29 lb 4 oz and a 24 lb 8 oz mirror in 24 hours, whilst a rare 17 lb
Old Lake koi fell to Andrew Black.
June saw The Ghost caught again, this time to Jonathan Winfield, from Cheam, at 38 lb, on a 24-hour session with his brother, while Friar Tuck was
caught by Fred Roome at 34 lb 12 oz.

Bury Hill Fisheries!
Heading up the July catches was The Double Row Linear caught by Dave Evans at 34 lb exactly, and
Bury Hill regular Kevin Oldkorn landed 21 carp on his latest session to the Old Lake for 330 lb,
In August, it was the Old Lake that grabbed the headlines following a number of hefty catches. Gavin
Raines and Kirk Nodding, from Wandsworth, shared a 40-carp catch topped by a 27 lb 14 oz mirror
fishing just 48 hours on the Old Lake, for a whopping 600 lb total. Kevin Oldcorn also celebrated his
first ever 'thirty' from the Old Lake in the form of a 30 lb 15 oz common, which was part of a
shared 27 carp haul for a 370 lb total in three days. Bury Hill’s best ever boat haul, father and son
Jeffrey Williams and Jack Swain, from Putney, shared 400 lb of carp to 35 lb 2 oz during which the
pair were soaked following torrential rain.
During September, Clive Elson landed 18 Old Lake carp including three 'twenties', two of which he
had on at the same time, while John Merit, from Brockham, also caught 18 carp, to 20 lb 7 oz. Kevin
Oldcorn also notched up a new personal best common with a 31 lb 6 oz Old Lake fish as part of an
11-carp catch in a 48-hour session, while angling friends Mark Essex and Gary Shrimpton landed 30
carp to 19 lb 8 oz in 48 hours, all of them doubles.
October saw Temple catches bounce back as Conor Cook continued a successful season by landing
The Ghost, at 37 lb 15 oz, while Karl Jansen had Friar Tuck at 34 lb 14 oz. Not to be outdone, The
Old Lake produced another big common weighing 33 lb 6 oz, named The Old Lady, this stunning fish
fell to Danny Lucas, from Ripley, who took up fishing this time last year and has been learning from
sessions with Bury Hill bailiff and keen carper Clive Elson, along with his son, Connor, and was on his
first session on his own. Rounding off the month Temple threw up a flurry of thirties. Gary Brown
had The Sergeant at 34 lb 2 oz and his son Terry, had a 32 lb 2 oz mirror, while Karl Jansen banked
The Two Tone Linear at 33 lb.
With mild weather continuing into November, Matt White described his latest session on Temple as
"my most memorable fishing experience ever”. He had already landed a 27 lb 6 oz mirror on the
previous visit, and then within an hour of casting out at 10am he banked a 30 lb 3 oz common,
followed two hours later by a 32 lb 4 oz mirror, and then at 4.30am he had a 35 lb 2 oz mirror, with
a 28 lb 8 oz common at 8am. The exceptional carp catches continued throughout November with
three more thirties banked on Temple and one from the Old Lake. The three Temple thirties were
Brian McKay’s stunning 33 lb 8 oz mirror, Phil Kingsbury’s ‘The Long’ Common weighing 31 lb 4 oz
and Ernie Holdaway’s new PB mirror which weighed 30 lb 1 oz. Gary Shrimpton also made the most
of his session on the Old Lake catching a 31 lb 5 oz common.
As I write this Newsletter mid November, I am sure that there will be more catches to grace the banks
of both lakes before winter finally sets in.
New Day Membership Changes!
Many of you will know that the fishery will be closing its doors to day tickets in order to become fully
membership. Whilst this was originally scheduled to start April 2016, the start date has now been
moved to April 2017. As such, whilst the new Day Membership will start on the 1st April 2016
offering various incentives to join, the fishery will remain OPEN for Day Tickets throughout 2016,
closing its doors to Day Tickets spring 2017. As such, the Specimen Carp Membership will not
change in 2016, other than it should be noted that membership numbers going forward will be
restricted and we fully expect to see a waiting list evolve during 2016, although existing members
will get priority.
Prices Unchanged for 2015!
Prices will again remain unchanged for 2016. Furthermore to help members ‘keep on fishing’
through the winter months, we have slashed our winter fishing prices by over 50%. Starting November and running through to the end of February, members can now fish for as little as £15 for 24
hours or £25 for 48 hours, members can also use a 3rd rod FOC during this period.
BHF Website & Facebook and NEW Catch of the Month Competition
Bury Hill’s website provides a wealth of information which includes weekly updates and details of
the latest catches, you can also ‘like us’ on facebook. Please keep us informed of your catches and
provide us with photographs where possible.
We are also continuing our NEW ‘Catch of the Month Competition’ which is open to all members
fishing either Temple or the Old Lake, who submit details and photos of their catch. The winner,
which will not necessarily be the largest fish, will receive a FREE 24 hour session on the lake of their
choice.
On a closing note, I would like to thank all our members for their continued support. Whilst the quality of
our fishing is clearly special, our membership remains strong as a direct result of you our members.

Times, Tariffs & Rules 2016
Fishing Times
Fishing will take place during the permitted fishing times only, which are shown below. Whilst during quieter
periods we are happy to try and work around these times based on the period actually being fished i.e. 24/48
hours, any alteration to these times must be agreed at the time of booking or with the duty bailiff when booking in.
Please Note!
♦! There is strictly no access to any of the lakes outside of the permitted fishing times for anyone other than
members who have booked in and who are fishing. There is strictly no access to any of the lakes once the
gates have been locked, which also applies to anyone arriving late. Members fishing at night must not attempt to leave the fishery during the hours of darkness, except in cases of emergency as this triggers the
alarms. In the event of a problem, there is an emergency telephone number shown on your membership
card which can be called at any time 24/7.
♦! Members are asked NOT to leave their swim at night or to walk around the fishery, other than to visit the
toilet. Under no circumstances must ‘take away’ food be delivered after the fishery has closed as this will
result in the offender being banned.

Fishing must be for CARP only, targeting other species, particularly at night is strictly forbidden.
Anyone wanting to fish, must book in as detailed above. Access to the lakes will not be permitted unless a booking
has been made, confirmed and paid for in full at the time of arrival. Specific swims cannot be pre-booked.
Bury Hill Fisheries, reserves the right to close a fishing area or indeed any of the Lakes, at any time without reason
or notice. However, prior notice will be given when and where possible and an alternative booking date offered if
appropriate.
Please display your car pass in a prominent position on the dashboard of your vehicle at all times – vehicles not displaying a car pass will be deemed to be intruding and dealt with accordingly.
Night fishing is a lock-in, except in cases of emergency; you are expected to remain by your swim and not to walk
around the fishery or to visit your car. Under no circumstances must friend’s visit or fast food deliveries be arranged,
once the fishery has been closed as they will be turned away and the offending angler banned.
Ticket prices assume the use of two rods only, however a third rod ticket may be purchased for £5 per session.
All nets and unhooking mats must be dipped when entering the fishery; net dips are located close to all lakes.
Fishing must take place only from the permanent swims provided, this includes stalking. There is strictly no fishing
between swims.
All anglers must be in possession of a large landing net, which has at least 42” arms.
A large unhooking mat must also be used at all times; this must be at least 42” long and 24” wide and ideally 2” thick.
All anglers must be in possession of a Korda Fish Care kit (or similar) to treat any wounds.
Rods must not be left unattended at any time or for any reason. However we will permit anglers to visit the neighboring adjacent swim (excluding Temple swims 1, 9, 10 and 15).
Minimum mainline strength is 12lb.
No braided main lines or shock leaders to be used including Quick Silver, except on marker rods.
Please use sensible hook length materials, i.e. no spider wire, if in doubt please ask a bailiff.
Lead Core is banned on both the Old Lake and Temple Lake.
Only barbless hooks to be used on the Old Lake, however micro-barbed hooks may be used on Temple Lake only.
Bent hooks are banned; this includes both short and long shank.
Fixed rigs are banned. We will be carrying out rig checks from time to time and anyone found using fixed rigs will be
banned on the spot. This includes using safety clips which have been glued in or pushed in too hard.
When returning fish to the water you must use a sling, zipped unhooking mat or landing net regardless of the distance. Under no circumstances carry any fish without the use of a sling, zipped unhooking mat or landing net.
All fish being photographed must be held over an unhooking mat at all times. Photographs should be taken kneeling down – under no circumstances should hold a fish standing up or attempt to stand up when returning fish.
Fish must be weighed in a purpose made sling, zipped unhooking mat or landing net only.
All fish to be returned to the water immediately after capture and photographing. In the case of fish over 30lb,
these may be sacked for a short period. Please ‘zap’ all fish using the tagging machine to record its number.
All particle baits with the exception of sweetcorn, hemp and carp pellet are banned, no trout pellets, peas, beans,
nuts or maize. However, we will permit the use of Dynamite’s Party Mix and Mixed Particles to be used.
Floating baits will be permitted provided that care is taken not to endanger wildlife.
Bait boats can be used with care. When using a bait boat, this must be directly in front of the swim being fished and
not sent diagonally across the lake. A sensible distance should also be adhered to. Baits should also be dropped short
of any bushes or snags and not placed too close or underneath snags for fear of snagging fish.
Please complete a catch report either on-line or at the boathouse when leaving and let us have any photographs.
Toilets are available close to the Lakes; please use them as anyone found excreting in the bushes will be banned.
Take all litter and unused bait home or place in the waste bins provided in the main car park or by the Temple toilet.
ANYONE LEAVING LITTER WILL BE BANNED!
Please advise a member of staff as soon as possible should any wildlife become hurt or injured, hooked or entangled
with line or become snagged.
Please advise the bailiff immediately (day or night) of any encounter with members of the public or day ticket anglers whilst fishing. You will find an emergency telephone number on the back of your membership card.
Do not light any fires and do not burn the grass when using any form of cooking equipment, BBQ’s are banned.
Please be considerate when using buzzers; please turn the sound down as noise travel particularly at night.
Mobile telephone ringing tone volumes should be kept to a minimum at all times and ideally switched to vibrate.
Whilst alcohol is generally banned, we will permit small amounts of alcohol to be consumed but in moderation
You are reminded that you should be in possession of a valid EA rod license, which you can buy online. These run
from April 1st to March 31st and cover 2 rods, please note, you will require 2 licenses when fishing 3 rods or more.
