Torch Bearer We are proud of our Columbia Central Junior High School Volleyball Team! Columbia Central Sr. High School will be hosting a Trunk or Treat in the high school parking lot on Sunday, October 30th, from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. This event is being offered to area businesses free of charge and there is no cost to participants. If you are interested in participating and handing out treats please call the high school at 592-6641 or email CCHS Principal Daniel Hyliard at [email protected] The CES Buddies Reading Program is staffed with community volunteers. Young students read to volunteers to practice and assist them with comprehension. People are trained by CES staff. To participate in this rewarding program. please contact Lori Kouba at [email protected]. Columbia School District serves Breakfast everyday in all school buildings. Superintendent’s Blog Superintendent’s Twitter District Facebook Volume 1, Issue 1 Pink Day—CC Sr. HS Volleyball Teams honored Cancer Survivors October 14, 2016 Columbia Central Elementary School—Grades PK-2nd CES in conjunction with the Brooklyn Kiwanis Club is beginning a Terrific Kids program. This is a student recognition program that promotes character development, self-esteem and perseverance. Students may work with their teacher to establish goals to improve behavior, peer relationships, attendance or schoolwork and to reach their goal during a specific time period. All students reaching their goals are recognized as Terrific Kids by the Brooklyn Kiwanis. Columbia Central Elementary School –Grades 3-6 CUES will be holding an after school program focusing on Math interventions. We will include students from every grade level to participate in the six week program beginning at the end of October. Our Food Drive is beginning. We will accept donations through mid December. These donations will support many local families throughout the holiday season. Columbia Central Junior High School-Grades 7 & 8 There are many offerings for students after school some of the clubs and activities offered to students are: Chess Club - Experienced and beginning chess players play chess matches and participate in a tournament in the spring. 4-H Club - Students meet in coordination with 4-H and learn about raising animals and farming. Peer Mentoring - Students mentor and befriend students at the elementary campus. Student Council - This student government organization is open to any student. Students plan projects that support educational activities and promote school spirit. Columbia Central High School-Grades 9-12 A Blood Drive will be hosted in the gymnasium on Thursday, October 27th. The Board of Education of Columbia Central High School has adopted a method of weighting students' classroom performance. This weighting system is used to determine students' rank in class. See weighting system for grades/class rank. Columbia Options High School & Adult Education Are you or someone you know looking for an educational change in a non-traditional setting? Open to residents from all local communities who would like to earn a high school diploma, CCE houses several programs, including Columbia Options High School, Columbia Virtual Academy, and the Columbia Adult Education program.
