ance Through The Decades” was this year’s
year end show theme! Performers from our
Recreational, Interclub & Competitive programs
danced and tumbled to music that reminded us of our pasts,
our present and what might just be our future. Individual
performances from our higher level athletes served as
inspiration to our younger athletes as well. We heard music
from the Victorian era, 30’s, 50’s, 70’s all the way to present
day tunes. We even caught our parents singing along!

individual certificates and special awards. For this
year, the Interclub and Competitive programs held their
awards reception at the Vancouver Curling Club with the
athletes’, parents and families in attendance.

An intermission break had our new Phoenix Silver partner
Momentum Fitness join in the fun with a fitness challenge
for our parents in the crowd. Our happy mom and dad
winners received a free health assessment an done free
personal training session.
Not to be left out were our very own coaches who
entertained us by doing countless flips to tunes of the Spice
Girls. They filpped for every dollar donated to the Flip-athon fundraiser which raised money for our bursary fund for
Phoenix athletes who are in need of financial assitance. We
raised $1,282!

Sr Girls Interlcub Plus with Coaches Kira & Shaina
e celebrated our annual Hawaiian themed gymnastics
event once again! For this year, we had 6 Girls
Interclub sessions and one Boys session (Interclub &
Kickstart). Senior Interclub Girls participated in the
“Performance,” “Performance Plus” and “Luau Challenge”
categories. Performance and Performance Plus categories
are standard GBC Interclub categories. Lindsay, Kyna and
Kira created the Luau Challenge category to give advanced
Interclub and provincial 1 & 2 athletes a fun semi-competitive
challenge.

MAG Age Group National Spring Camp, Colorado Springs
June 9-14, 2015
P
hoenix took 51 athletes to Gymnaestrada this year. Both Junior
and Senior girls and boys participated in this two day event.
On the first day the athletes took part in varying workshops
including Parkour, Acro Yoga, obstacle courses, line dancing,
martial arts and cheer leading. On the second day, the groups
performed their group routines in front of their parents and all
other performers. Not only was Gymnaestrada a lot of fun for our
athletes, it was a great opportunity for them to get to communicate
with other Phoenix Interclub groups who they don’t often get to
work with.

Congratulations to Darren Wong who won the 2015 Canadian Novice All
Around Champion and Jessie Moody who took home Gold for Bars in the
National Open (13-15 yrs) division. The Men’s Novice team and Women’s
Open team both took home the Bronze.

senior girls participated at our last meet of the year in
Whistler. The meet was held both indoors and outdoors.
Bars, Beam and Vault were outdoors, floor was indoors. The event
was very fun; the athletes had a great time competing in a nontraditional type of environment.
