Welcome Back Returning Pen Friends and Hello To Our New Pen Friends!
Here is your information packet for this year’s show. Once again, we are expecting tremendous turnout and a fantastic show and we
thank you for joining us for this most exciting event.
Our sponsors, Delta Pens, are providing a fabulous ink bottle as a souvenir of your pen show weekend. It will be available to
exhibitors, Weekend Traders, and 200 public admissions both Saturday and Sunday. Please take the time to see their products
and thank them personally
We have a great line-up of events for this year’s show:
Friday Afternoon between 6 and 7, there is a Welcome Party with beer,
wine, and Pizza in the foyer of the ballroom. I’m sure you
agree that a pen show is only partly about buying, selling
and trading pens. What makes a show memorable is the
quality time we spend with others who share our passion
for collecting pens. The welcome party is an important
time for us to mingle, see old friends, meet new people and
generally get ‘in the swing’ for the weekend.
EVERYONE IS INVITED - even those who are staying at other

Writing Accessories By Jim Marshall
Jim Marshall has just introduced the 4th volume of the Monograph
series ‘Writing Accessories’ and this is by far the most comprehensive
booklet yet produced on the items used from the late 18th century. It is
written with the beginner in mind but it contains a wealth of
information and images , that tempt even the established collector.
From the ‘Writing Place’ and desk furniture’ it covers the materials
such as parchment, parchment runners, rulers & liners, paper, pounce,
sanders, quills, quill nibs, nibbers, quill knives, erasers, paperweights,
glue pots, dip pens, nibs, writing furniture, writing cases, blotters, pen
wipes, clips, pen racks, trays, tidys, desk lights.
The despatch of letters is not ignored with consideration of
wafers, wafer seals, sealing wax holders, seals, wax jacks, bougie
boxes, stamp wetters, stamp boxes and postal scales. While the receipt
is also covered with seal chisels and paper knives.

Pens for Kids is a program of the Pen Collectors of America to promote handwriting, personal
expression through writing, and love of writing instruments in young people. The Pens for Kidsprogram is helping
foster a love of pens in the next generation. The workshops were designed to foster an interest in pens and pen
collecting in the nextgeneration. The Pens for Kids workshops also stressed the importance of handwritingand
personal expression in communication. The workshops were open to “kids of all ages.” The hour-long workshop
will feature a slide presentation with a brief history of pens, slides of various styles of pens, and images of nibs and
filling mechanisms. Each attendee received a student fountain pen. Participants used their new pens in a
handwriting exercise, and were given a Pens for Kids note card so they could pen a personal note to a friend or
family member.
