Volunteer Voice Hammond-Henry Hospital Auxiliary/Volunteer Newsletter September 2016 Julie West, Volunteer/Auxiliary Manager Phone 309/944-9130 The Hammond-Henry Hospital Auxiliary would like to invite you and a prospective member guest to Come Smile Awhile with us! The Auxiliary Development committee has a new idea for a fundraiser event. The “Power of the Purse” will be a chance for you to donate some of those purses you have stuck away in your closet but no longer use. Please drop off your gently used purses at the volunteer office by October 24. In return we will give you a $5 coupon to be used on your purchase of a “new” purse at the event. The “Power of the Purse” event will be held Thursday, November 10 at HHH in the first floor conference room from 12 noon – 6 p.m. That day, there will be samples of desserts that you can order for all your holiday festivities. Women’s Health Luncheon and Men’s Health Series The Women’s Health Luncheons will begin again on September 22 at 12 noon at the Cellar on the topic of medical marijuana. Anyone interested is invited to attend. Please register by calling 944-9112 or email to [email protected] The cost is $8 for the lunch (payable at the door) for those with reservations. The next Men’s Health Series program will be October 12, 7 a.m. in the HHH 1st floor conference room. Volunteer Training The next volunteer training is scheduled for Wednesday, September 14, 9 a.m. – noon in the HHH First Floor Conference Room. Active volunteers are required to attend training once every two years to remain current. Topics include hospital safety, volunteer procedures, and general updates about our volunteer program. Plus it is an opportunity to meet new volunteers – or volunteers in other areas in the hospital. If you haven’t attended for a while, I hope to see you there. If you miss the September training, there will also be a volunteer training offered on Thursday, October 20, 9 a.m. – noon in the HHH First Floor Conference Room (near the East Entrance). Volunteer training is for new volunteers or for any volunteers who have not attended training in the past 2 years. Thanks to all Ice Cream Social Helpers! Thanks so much to everyone who helped with the Auxiliary Ice Cream Social. Even though it was warm, we had a great time. The Auxiliary’s profits totaled $3000 – which will be a great boost to our scholarship fund. Whether you baked pies or cakes, helped serve, set-up, clean-up, or just supported us with your attendance or your donations, we appreciate it all. A special thanks to the Green River Band and the Daniels family for sharing their talents and providing such wonderful music for all to enjoy. Cheryl Radicic and Martha Herron, Co-chairs The HHH Foundation is sponsoring a bus trip to Chicago to see the musical, “Annie” at the Cadillac Palace theater on Thursday, November 10. The price is $100 and includes one lower balcony seat, charter bus transportation and a box lunch. There is a limited number of seats still available.
