Pelican News
16 November 2012
I must begin with a big ‘Thank You’ to everyone who came along this morning to support our ‘Sing
for Pudsey’ concert. I know the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and, combined with the
mufti day donations, Pre-Prep raised an impressive £278.43 (and 1 euro!)
All of the Pre-Prep staff would also like to offer our warmest (and proudest) congratulations to all
Year 1 and 2 children who performed at the Taunton Speech and Music Festival this week. We
scooped First (Lily MacNeice) and joint Second (Magnus Larsen and Eleanor Renville) in the Year
2 category and Georgia Fidler won the Year 1 category out of over 60 entrants. A fantastic result
for King’s Hall!
On a less inspiring note, there seems to be a nasty sickness bug circulating at the moment.
Please ensure you keep your child at home for 24 hours after the last sickness episode before
returning them to school. Thank you.
Operation Christmas Child
Thank you to everyone who has supported the Operation Christmas Child appeal by filling a
shoebox with gifts. These will be collected on Wednesday 21 November so there are still a few
days left if you wish to add to the collection. If you are unsure of what you should pack visit
www.operationchristmaschild.org.uk
Woodland Adventures
Woodland Adventures will be running for one week before Christmas and spaces are limited and
filling up fast. If you would like to book your child in for some festive fun please contact Mrs
Masters ([email protected] / 07850 775495)
End of Day Collection
Could you please ensure you let school know if you have arranged for another adult to collect your
child at the end of the day. If we do not receive permission by email / telephone message or note
we cannot allow the child to be taken, as stated in our school policy.
Clothing
Please can you make sure your child has a named warm hat, scarf and pair of gloves in school by
Monday. The temperature is definitely plummeting and it can be quite bitter on both the field and
the astro.
Please could you also ensure you return any borrowed items of clothing to school to ensure our
stock levels remain healthy.
Nursery
Mrs Masters would like all of the children to bring in a clean jam jar with a lid for a Forest School
activity.
We would also like to give advance warning that all Nursery children need to be in school on the
morning of Thursday 6 December for the Nativity dress rehearsal. There will be no charge for
children who do not normally attend on a Thursday. They can be dropped off from 8.30 am but we
ask that they be picked up by 11.45 am.
Nursery boys are very keen to build a Pirate ship in the near future for which we will need plenty of
large cardboard boxes! If you have any you could donate to this grand construction project they
would be very much appreciated.
Reception
Please note that Reception’s annual Diwali celebrations will now be taking place on Wednesday.
The children will be bringing home a costume on Tuesday evening which they should wear to
school on Wednesday.
Year 1
Thank you for the loan of all the household objects from times past. We have now finished this
topic and would be grateful if you could collect them and take them home.
Mrs Tidswell’s class will be at Forest School on Tuesday and should come to school wearing their
Forest School clothes.
Year 2
Mrs Hayden-Briffett’s class will be taking part in Forest School on Wednesday afternoon. The
children should bring suitable warm clothing to school in a named bag ready to change at lunch
time.
