A SMP meeting was held on 01 September at SMP 33 Building 3348. The SMP Vice President called the meeting to order at 1330. List of those in attendance is provided on the sign in sheet (attachment 1). 2. Danielle West - SMP Coordinator – Last month’s minutes can be found at www.mccscp.com under the recreation / SMP tab. 3. SgtMaj Meza – SgtMaj MCIWest-MCB CamPen – Looking for feedback from Marines on their thoughts of allowing alcohol in the rec centers. Suggested talk with Marines and feedback to Commanders so that a decision may be based off this. 4. Ben Payano– Bachelor Housing Manager – • Assists with BAH packages - gathering and submitting information. All BEQ Managers must attend BEQ course. Please contact if they have not done so (760) 763-5881. • CGIP – Has a specific team that helps you pass CGIP. 5. Patrick Nalty – Transition and Employment Services • TRS (Transition and Career Services) – 5 day consecutive program. Must wear civilian, business casual attire. Program covers interview skills, resume writing, VA Benefits, How to Dress for Success, etc. • Skills Development Department – 8 programs involved (such as Microsoft, assistance with job placement, etc) Must have OIC signature, SgtMj signature, and Major or higher. • Veterans in Piping – Free and guaranteed job with Union after you have left USMC. Must attend class 2 nights a week and complete this program while Active Duty to prep for transition out. • Military Women in Transition Career Symposium – Symposium Oct 6 9am – 4pm at Pacific Views Event Center. Career and Resource Expo October 7 9am – noon at Pacific Views Event Center. This symposium is supplemental to the Transition Readiness Seminar (TRS) and has a career development component and theme. Sept 2-5 San Francisco. $140 per person includes transportation, and 3 night hotel stay in downtown San Francisco. • Sept 9 – 11 Sequoia National Park Camping Trip and Crystal Cave Tour. $60 per person includes transportation, camping, meals while in camp and a private group tour of the Crystal Cave. • Sept 24 – Beach Day – Free event, pre-registration required. A day of play at Camp Pendleton Del Mar Beach. Free use of kayaks, stand up paddle boards and surfboards. Lunch provided. • Sept 28 Potato Chip Rock Hike - $5, pre-registration is required. • Oct 1 Tour de Camp Pendleton - $10 per person for Active Duty. Includes race bib, t-shirt, Gatorade, snacks and races access. Cycling event riding from the northernmost point of Camp Pendleton through Basilone and down to Las Pulgas. • Oct 7-9 Las Vegas - $140 per person. Includes transportation and 3 night hotel stay on the Las Vegas strip. • Oct 14 La Brea Tar Pits - $5 per person. Includes transportation. 10. This is a High School Boys Varsity program that will be competing in the Pacific Lacrosse League (PLL) for the upcoming 2016 season. The season runs February through May, with practices on weeknights from 7-9PM in the Vista High School Stadium in Vista, CA. Games will be scheduled on weekend (usually Saturdays). Practices will be scheduled to begin in December. There is an existing core group of players with lacrosse experience, and a large number of non-lacrosse athletes ready to give the sport a try. Previous coaching experience is desired, but not required. In our program, the Big Brother and Big Sister volunteers meet with their Little Brothers and Little Sisters for one hour one day a week (times and dates are the same every week) at the child’s school site. During that hour the Big and Little matches do activities such as play board games, do arts and crafts projects, or just run around outside, playing ball, throwing Frisbees, jumping rope, and other fun activities! These are the days and times we meet each week during the school year The Fisher House provides a "home away from home" at no cost for families of patients admitted for medical care at the Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton or affiliated medical centers. We offer comfortably furnished rooms with bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, living, dining, laundry and play rooms. The home provides free temporary lodging so military families can be close to their loved ones during a medical crisis. Fisher House is available to families of active duty, retired and veterans from all services including the National Guard and Coast Guard. Our Fisher House has a full-time staff but depends on volunteers and voluntary support to enhance daily operations and program expansion. Please consider volunteering your time to help our courageous service members and their families. The animals have to be cared for whether volunteers show up or not, and many of the current volunteers are seniors. They often find it difficult to stay to a regular schedule. Most of the chores involve cleaning and washing, not the most exciting type of chore, but one that is required daily.
