We create our own sophisticated patterns from
scratch—to allow for a better fit, increased comfort
and a wider range of motion needed during the
workday. We also size our prototypes on real medical
professionals, not fashion models, to ensure proper fit
whether you’re a petite, a 5XL, or somewhere in between.

Once we introduced color to our scrubs, better design
was not far behind. Landau was one of the first
manufacturers to incorporate prints into our colletions.
From the raw materials delivered to our mills, to the
processing of our yarns, to the stitching of our fabrics,

ask the experts. Real healthcare
professionals. Today, we're talking
to Alam Sharifi—Nursing Student.
Landau: So you’re a nursing student.
What attracted you to this line of work?
Alam: I used to be a medical sales rep, and I worked
with a lot of nurses and doctors. I saw some things that
I wanted to do to help people.
L: What kind of things?
A: Being one-on-one with the patients. As a nurse,
you’re there for everything. You’re there medically and
emotionally. I’ve been interning in a psych unit, so the
emotional part really attracted me.
L: When you become a full-time nurse,
will time be very precious to you?
A: Yeah, it’s going to be nuts. I got a job in the ER, so it’s
definitely going to be really fast paced. But I’m going to
learn a lot. It’s really exciting.
L: Do your scrubs wash and hold up well?
A: In school everyone wears Landau. I’ve had my scrubs
for two years and they look the same. And they get washed
after every shift at the hospital.
L: What is your most memorable experience?
A: Right now I’m on the behavioral floor. Some patients
may be a little confused or not know what’s going on. It’s
nice when they say, “Will you come back and sit with me?”
Sometimes their families aren’t around, so I think that
their families probably appreciate it.

Jenna Haven—Dental Hygienist
to get her take on scrubs.
Landau: What attracted you to dentistry?
Jenna: All my life I’ve been in and out of the dental office.
I’ve had a lot of work done on my teeth. The first thing I
notice about a person is their smile.
L: What do you look for when you’re
buying a set of scrubs?
J: The way they fit, really. When I’m working, I have a big
range of motion. I’m reaching over patients and moving
constantly. I also want to look nice and professional. I want
the patients to feel confident that I know what I’m doing.
L: Is there an advantage of wearing
Landau over other brands?
J: I’ve worn a few different brands, but of course, I always
go back to Landau. They just fit ME! Some of the designs
and colors suit my personality perfectly.
L: What’s more important to you?
Fashion or function?
J: Both. I do like scrubs that are fashionable. Definitely.
I get so many compliments on them. But I still need to
function in them and do my job and not have to be pulling
or tugging on them.
L: How do you handle your busy schedule?
J: I put first what needs to come first. Make sure the bills
get paid, then I play softball 5 out of 7 days a week.

Landau: What exactly do you do?
Phillamone: I’m the clinical liaison between the
electronic medical record (EMR) and the medical staff.
Moving from paper charting to the EMR.
L: What attracted you to this field?
P: I initially thought about law enforcement. But you take
the life expectancy of a nurse versus a DEA officer, and they
kinda, you know... I started nursing in the trauma center and
I worked there for several years. I liked the rush of the job.
L: What is your most memorable experience?
P: When I worked in organ donation, I was there when
the mother of a donor met the recipient. She walked up to
him, put her hand on his chest and said, “Steven’s not dead.”
And I’m like, “Hmm.” It’s one of those things where it’s way
past all the science.
L: When you’re working, what’s more
important, fashion or function?
P: Fashion and function are both good. I have to commend
Landau because I recently bought some scrubs off the rack.
They fit me perfectly, which is not easy to do. You see, I’m
6'5'' and weigh 275 pounds. In the past I would try a set of
scrubs and they would only go down to my shin, or I couldn’t
squeeze into them.
L: How do you keep your scrubs looking great?
P: Regular cold water washing and ironing.
