Please check the bill of materials carefully to ensure
the kit is complete. -­‐  Installa>on requires careful a]en>on. If you have concerns about your abili>es to perform delicate opera>ons, then do not begi
n the installa>on. -­‐  The car must be secured to not move during installa>on. Store the vents pieces carefully to avoid damage. Repeat the process for the other side. Remove both screws and reserve. Repeat on the other side. Cau>on, press the locking tab arer the pink plas>c to disengage the XM antenna. A li]le flat screw driver may help. XM To free the radio completely disconnect the 2 mul>-­‐way connectors on the rear of the radio. Pressing the locking tab down allows the connectors to be removed from the back. The factory radio will be located deeper in the dash than before to accommodate the new touchscreen and bezel mount. Be careful to not cut electrical wires!!!! Using a small saw (or any appropriate tool) trim the area marked to reflect the next step. This is necessary to allow the updated radio to be installed correctly. Clean the enDre area with a vacuum to remove the plasDc debris. Doing this ensures enough clearance to posi>on the cables under the radio at final assembly. The bracket can also be snapped off by moving it up and down several >mes with a vice grip. It should break at the soldering points. Doing this will ensure enough clearance at the back of the radio for final assembly. Secure the 4 screws removed as they will be re-­‐used. (2 opposite side) To detach the front panel completely from the radio, there are 8 retaining tabs that retain the radio panel in ( 2 on bo]om, 2 on top and 2 either side) . GENTLY lir these up a li]le (DO NOT SNAP THEM OFF) and pry the radio fascia clear enough to allow access to the cables on the rear. A second flat screw driver might help to keep the clips released while unclipping others. Once the front panel is free of the chassis, you need to detach one end of the ribbon cable. See next… REV:1.0 NOTES: Pull the front panel gently to avoid connector & ribbon damage 37 Model: Hyundai Santa Fe standard audio system Kit number: CNM5-­‐DM1-­‐8 Year range: 2013-­‐UP CN-­‐M5 Installa>on manual Radio Version IdenDficaDon: Hyundai produced two different versions for the Santa Fe. Look where the flat ribbon a]aches to the radio motherboard. If the radio has a brown/beige connector on the motherboard. The flat ribbon doesn't need to be changed since the opposite end has the matng contacts in the right orienta>on. You will detach the ribbon from the radio face plate and you won’t need the supplied ribbon cable. Proceed to the next page… ! REV:1.0 If the radio has a black connector on the motherboard. The flat ribbon needs to be changed since the opposite end has the matng contacts in the wrong orienta>on. You will detach the ribbon from the radio motherboard and you will need the supplied ribbon. Go to page 41… NOTES: The above step is crucial! 38 Model: Hyundai Santa Fe standard audio system Kit number: CNM5-­‐DM1-­‐8 Year range: 2013-­‐UP CN-­‐M5 Installa>on manual Brown / Beige connector style: A li]le pressure is needed from a screwdriver to lir up the brown locking tab to allow the ribbon cable to freely be disconnected. Be gentle to avoid damaging the brown locking tab No>ce the red circles. The cable needs to be disengaged from the unlocked brown locking tab, to free it from the beige connector. Separate the white end from the lock by liring gently. Take the ribbon cable supplied with the kit and gently feed it it the connector same way the original was; Blue stripe up, ma>ng contacts down. Gently fold down the black locking tab. Then remove the 5 screw surrounding the face plate REV:1.0 NOTES: 42 Model: Hyundai Santa Fe standard audio system Kit number: CNM5-­‐DM1-­‐8 Year range: 2013-­‐UP CN-­‐M5 Installa>on manual Assemble the trip module with the supplied screws as indicated. The connectors must face the face plate with the flat ribbon connector located at the ler TRIP module correctly installed REV:1.0 NOTES: 43 Model: Hyundai Santa Fe standard audio system Kit number: CNM5-­‐DM1-­‐8 Year range: 2013-­‐UP CN-­‐M5 Installa>on manual Run the flat ribbon thru the new face plate carefully. Make sure not bend the flat ribbon. Then assemble the new face plate and locate it using the embosses circled. Screw (3) the face plate star>ng by the opposite corners to make sure the radio body is square. Place a screw as shown, this will be use to ground the CN-­‐M5 reverse camera REAR PWR. Screw the CD player at the top of the slots as shown using the small screws reserved separately. Proceed with the flat ribbon install Next page… REV:1.0 NOTES: 44 Model: Hyundai Santa Fe standard audio system Kit number: CNM5-­‐DM1-­‐8 Year range: 2013-­‐UP CN-­‐M5 Installa>on manual ! 1 2 3 REV:1.0 1-­‐ Lir and hold the black locking tab 90 deg up to allow the ribbon cable to be installed into the TRIP module freely. 2-­‐ The flat ribbon contacts (silver) need to face down (to make contact) and the blue stripe needs to face up. The ribbon must be CAREFULLY but firmly pushed into the TRIP connector, ensuring it is parallel and has no bends or tears. SEE NOTES! 3-­‐ Then fold down gently the locking tab applying the pressure in the middle of the tab. NOTES: The blue sDpe of flat ribbon is always facing up at the trip module WITHOUT twisDng or rotaDng the ribbon 180 deg. Otherwise, STOP the installaDon immediately and contact support 45 Model: Hyundai Santa Fe standard audio system Kit number: CNM5-­‐DM1-­‐8 Year range: 2013-­‐UP CN-­‐M5 Installa>on manual 4 4-­‐ Then carefully install the rubber retainer, inser>ng the bo]om piece first into place to ensure the locking tab and therefore ribbon cable does not disengage. Cau>on: Make sure to insert the bocom of the rubber block first otherwise the locking tab may fold back and brake. If the locking tab is broken; stop the installaDon immediately and contact support. 5-­‐ The protruding curve of the ribbon cable must be CAREFULLY eased back into the radio unit (under the TRIP module), use just enough pressure to push into the radio. Alignment the bracket in dimple (GREEN circle) to locate the brackets correctly. NOTE – Look at the orienta>on of the bracket, the brackets extend the bo]om of the radio chassis. Repeat for the other side of the radio. You have successfully prepared your radio. Route the External Media Storage connector under the radio loca>on. Peel the red tape from the double face tape and affix as shown. Affix the Media box against the lef inner wall and 2” from the face as shown. Secure the storage cord beside the air filter box with a >e-­‐rap. Trim the top of the glove box to clear the Storage box IF NEEDED. The SD Card might parDally eject during the box installaDon process. Press The SD Card to eject and re-­‐
insert.
