Your Kentucky’s Wilderness Road Council operates four camps that serve an average of 5,000
campers each year! The Council has made strong efforts to keep the costs of operating to a
minimum while still operating at a high standard. Fees derived from the camps currently
cover only 6% of the money it takes to operate the four camps. The Wilderness Road
Council funds the remaining 94%. The largest majority of these funds are derived from
product sales. Please keep the costs in mind as you embark on new camping experiences by
promoting conservation, using resources wisely, and practicing environmentally sound
camping so that you can enjoy YOUR camp properties for a long time.
When visiting the camps remember to take the time to appreciate all the great wonders of
nature and the great activities available. There are many unique wildflowers, plants and wildlife
to view and appreciate. Please use caution and respect when observing all of these wonderful
and exciting things. For the most up to date information concerning camps, activities and
adventure programming please see our website at www.gskentucky.org.
Remember to always be safe and enjoy your stay!

4. Build fires only in designated areas and always have water available.
5. Swimming, canoeing, sailing, caving, bicycling, prusiking, rappelling, climbing tower and zip
line, teams course, archery, rock climbing and horseback riding require the use of
specialized equipment and trained facilitators. Please contact the Program Director at 859293-2621 for information on these exciting activities.

While You’re At Camp
Conservation
1. A Girl Scout camp is a wildlife sanctuary. Do not pick, dig up, carve, cut, or damage the
camp’s natural environment.
2. Keep our camp properties free of litter - always pick up trash and properly dispose of it in
the dumpster. Place garbage in designated containers for pick up by the Site Manager.
Firewood
1. All troops are responsible for gathering and replacing their own firewood (tinder, kindling,
and fuel)
2. Do not bring firewood to camp.
3. Gather firewood that is already on the ground. NEVER cut live or standing trees.
4. Do not drag small trees or large limbs from the woods and leave near the fire circles. This
practice prevents mowing and weeding of the lawn areas and campers could trip over
these obstacles.
General
1. All groups and troops are responsible for property or equipment damage caused by
members of their camping party.
2. Each troop/group is responsible for cleaning all areas utilized during their stay.
3. All permanent units have cots and mattresses; campers must bring their own bedding
supplies.
4. Please bring empty containers for left-over food.
5. Each camping unit contains an equipment and cook box that consists of the following:
EQUIPMENT AND COOK BOX INVENTORY

arrive. Other items should be obtained and returned to the Site Manager.
