Join us on a two mile walk, led by a small team of artists and volunteer walk
leaders, along the Western Flyer cycle and pedestrian route.
Discover how easy and enjoyable it is to make the journey from the town centre to
West Swindon on foot (or by bike) - avoiding the traffic, improving your fitness and
saving you money on fuel too!
Meet at the entrance to Sheppard Street underpass (close to the railway station) at
10.45am. The walk ends back at Sheppard Street at approximately 2pm.
There will be informal stops along the way for fun and imaginative activities using
the Western Flyer tricycle machine. We are inviting stories and thoughts from you
about the route, its heritage, social history and modern day use. Bring a picnic for
a lunch stop where there will be a chance to record and film thoughts and
responses to the route using digital media equipment on board the CreateMobile.
Feel free to bring your own recording equipment too, as the photos and recordings
captured along the walk will contribute to a touring exhibition of short films, new
photographs, web pages and a new Western Flyer app, to be launched in
Spring 2014.
The walk is organised by Create Studios and Swindon Borough
Council's Walking for Health campaign, and is part of the
...marking time along the Western Flyer participatory arts
project funded by Swindon Travel Choices.
