Wedding weekend itinerary: General Information on Lodging We will be at Whistling Elk Ranch from early afternoon on Thursday, July 15th through brunch on Sunday, July 18th. (The ceremony will be late morning on Saturday the 17th.) After brunch on the 18th we will caravan down to Fort Collins (2.5 hours away) for a reception at Andy’s parents’ house. Lodging for the nights of the 15th through the 17th will be at or near Whistling Elk and for the night of the 18th will be in Fort Collins. Please see the schedule for more detailed information. Lodging for the nights of Thursday, July 15th through Saturday, July 17th: The wedding will be at Whistling Elk Ranch, near Rand, CO. There are three options for lodging: on-site cabins ($15$35/person/night), on-site camping in tents or tipis (free), or reserving a hotel in nearby Walden, CO, half an hour from Whistling Elk. We recommend the Antler’s Inn in Walden, which has nice rooms starting at $90/night for a room with one queen bed. If you wish to reserve a cabin at Whistling Elk, read the descriptions of the cabins included in the lodging document, and figure out which cabin you would like and who you want to share with. If you want to find people to share with, or need an extra person to fill out a cabin, please post on our wedding blog to indicate what you are looking for. Once you know what you want, email us indicating which beds in which cabin you (and your partner/family/friends) would like, and for which nights. We will confirm that the beds are still available, then send you payment information for them. (Note: we plan to use all beds in the cabins.) If you wish to camp, please email us to indicate whether you would like a tipi or a normal tent, and whether you will need a tent, mat, or sleeping bag. If you wish to stay in a tipi, let us know whether you have a big group that would like the 6-person tipi, or whether you would just like the 2-person tipi. Lodging for the night of Sunday, July 18th: After brunch on Sunday, we will leave Whistling Elk for a reception at Andy’s parents’ house in Fort Collins (2.5 hours away). For those from out of state who are coming to the reception, you will want to make a reservation at a hotel in Fort Collins for Sunday night. There are various motel & hotel chains in Fort Collins (Motel 6, Comfort Inn, Hilton, etc). Nice local options near Andy’s house include the Armstrong ($100-$135 per room) and the Edwards House bed & breakfast ($100-$175 per room). The lodge will be the center of many activities at the wedding: it will be used for singing, cooking, and games, and it will be a gathering place for hiking and other events. It sleeps a total of 8 people. There are two suites, each with a queen bed and a single bed, and a side room with a bunk bed sleeping two. The single beds in the suites may be moved to the living room if desired. Each suite has its own bathroom and shower, and there is an additional toilet off the common room. Cost is $35/person/night Main Lodge Primary Cabins There are three Primary Cabins, each holding a total of six people: there are two bedrooms each with two single beds, and a fold-out couch in the living room which sleeps two. Each cabin has a kitchenette and a single bathroom with a shower. The primary cabins are located near the main lodge. Cost is $35/person/night Bath BR2 Living Room BR1 Bitner is next to the three primary cabins and the main lodge, but is somewhat more rustic than them. It does not have power or water, but there is a nearby bathroom and shower. It has a living room and a bedroom holding 6 people: there are two bunked beds, each with a full on the bottom and a twin on the top. Cost is $25/person/night Bitner Cabin (6 people) bunk bed bunk bed Living Room Haskins Cabin Haskins is a remote cabin, 2 miles away from the lodge, primary cabins, and Bitner. It is more rustic than the others, and access requires a four-wheel drive vehicle. It holds four people: two in a full bed in the loft, and two on a futon on the main floor. It has an outhouse, but you will need to come down to the main lodge for showers. The view from the cabin is beautiful. Cost is $15/person/night Aspen Cabin is rustic and remote. It is 2 miles from the main cabins and getting there requires 4-wheel drive; there is an amazing view from the deck. It consists of a pair of adjacent cabins, each with its own bathroom and shower. The smaller cabin has four single beds in one room; the larger cabin has a living room and a second floor bedroom with eight single beds. Any group of four or more is welcome to have the big cabin to themselves. Cost is $15/person/night Aspen Cabin Big Cabin Living Room Big Cabin Bedoom Small Cabin Bedroom Big Cabin Bathroom Small Cabin Bathroom Tipis and Other Camping Whistling Elk has two tipis, one holding 6 people and one holding 2 people. We can provide sleeping mats for anyone who would like to camp. In addition, we can provide tents for anyone who would like to camp in a traditional tent. Tents and tipis are free. Campers will have access to bathrooms and showers in the cabins and the Whistling Elk office. Please note that the tipi fabric was down for the winter when this photo was taken. Walden, CO is about a half hour drive from Whistling Elk Ranch. There are several hotels there for anyone who would like more privacy or more refined accomodations than those provided at Whistling Elk. We recommend the Antlers Inn, which has nice rooms at fairly reasonable prices; budget motels are also available in Walden. If you wish to stay at Antlers, please make your own reservations by callinng (970) 723-8690 Antlers Inn, Walden
