TICKETS
We programme long series of performances so that as
many people as possible can enjoy the shows. Many
events are free and you do not have to reserve a spot.
June 11: ticket sales commence

Ticket sales start on Saturday, June 11. To avoid long
lines, you can take a number starting at 7 am. The
number approximates when it will be your turn.
Everyone with a number will be helped that same day.

Waiting list
A waiting list is drawn up on-site one hour before the
show. A spot on the waiting list does not guarantee a
ticket, but you stand a good chance of obtaining one.
This is especially true of shows with lots of seats,
like the circuses.

Purchase tickets from other Zomer van Antwerpen
fans. Surf to www.zva.be and click on ticket market to
see which shows still have tickets available.
Payment
For phone and online reservations you pay a € 2
reservation fee per order. Unpaid reservations expire
three workdays after the order date.
E-tickets
For online and phone orders we work with e-tickets
whenever possible. If you have an email address then
your tickets will be sent via email. Print your tickets
(max. 1 ticket per page) and bring them to the show;
they will be scanned at the door. Tickets can also be
scanned on your smartphone. If you reserve tickets
by phone but do not have an email address, you will
receive your tickets in the mail.
Latecomers
You can also purchase tickets on www.zva.be.
Online ticket sales start on June 13.
Latecomers are not allowed into shows because this
would disturb the actors and the audience. Please
take into account that parking is often scarce at the
locations. If you come by car, be sure to leave on time.
How many tickets can you purchase?
A card
June 13 - August 29
You can order maximum 4 tickets per show. If your
family consist of more than 4 people, bring written
proof of your family composition to prove this (e.g.
marriage register, birth certificates, ID cards, etc.).
Bring your A card to Zomer van Antwerpen. You can
collect points in the Zomerbar and the Zomerfabriek.

A melancholic circus dream
MATAMORE is not the kind of circus performance that
you are used to. You sit around an arena where the artists give it their all. Like true matadors, they bring tons
of energy and suspense to the small ring. But things don’t
always go according to plan. The characters are comical
sometimes and at other times fragile or a little boastful –
yet you sympathise with them.
At times MATAMORE is a tribute to the circus of yesteryear. At other times everything seems like an illusion: the
music sweeps you away and you get the feeling that you
are in a dream world. Sometimes funny, other times melancholic. In any event, you won’t leave feeling indifferent.
Come inside the red tent and sit around the arena. The
artists speak Dutch, French and English during the show.
MATAMORE is suitable for everyone aged 10 and older.

Circus filled with crazy fairy tales
In a land not so far away, someone tries to tell a fairy
tale but the characters don’t pay much attention to the
story. A monster and the wolf decide to leave the fairy
tale while the princesses wonder how in the world one
can kiss a frog, especially when you aren’t really waiting
for a prince to come and rescue you.
FOREVER, HAPPILY… is a circus for adults and families. It’s funny and intimate, with lots of spectacular acrobatics and live music, in a mysterious world where Little
Red Riding Hood flirts with the Big Bad Wolf.
Step inside the tent and enjoy Collectif Malunés’s
cheeky look at fairyland. FOREVER, HAPPILY… is
absurd and humoristic circus for everyone.

Heartwarming Cambodian circus
A few unsuspecting teenagers stand eye to eye with two
white spirits. The spirits are intriguing but dangerous.
What follows is a breathtaking adventure in an attempt
to vanquish the spirits. The teenagers must first dare to
confront their own demons. That is the only way to overpower the spirits. CHILLS is enthusiastic and generous
circus for the entire family.
PHARE PONLEU SELPAK means ‘the light of art’. This
Cambodian organisation was founded in 1994 from a
series of workshops that were held in Site 2, a refugee
camp on the border with Thailand.
For more than 20 years PHARE PONLEU SELPAK has
been offering training in different disciplines (circus,
music, theatre, visual art) to vulnerable children and
young adults.
You can sit on bleachers and enjoy this amazing circus
for the entire family in the large circus tent.

Spectacular African acrobatics
BOULEVARD CONAKRY is inspired by the lively
market in the centre of Conakry, the capital of Guinea.
Merchants sing the praises of their goods while dancing, singing and juggling. The colours, scents and impressions are very intense.
In this unforgettable show, the market symbolises life
and life must be celebrated! No less than 16 acrobats,
dancers and musicians bring Conakry market closer. Lively acts, festive live music and energetic dance ensure
a spectacular show.
TERYA CIRCUS was founded by Bakala, the director of Circus Baobab. Young people have been able to
follow circus training with them since 2013. The lessons are given by the talented artists of Circus Baobab.
The young acrobats have put together their first show:

PIKNIK HORRIFIK takes you to an abandoned spot.
A drab and uninviting plot is transformed into a surprising piece of nature before your eyes. A green oasis
is created from scratch. You enjoy a picnic like never

PIKNIK HORRIFIK is a contemporary variation of
‘The Garden of Earthly Delights’, a fascinating painting by Hieronymus Bosch. Grotesque characters, absurd actions and surreal images catch you off guard.
PIKNIK HORRIFIK is a physical and culinary show
that borders between heavenly delicious food and the
hell of our food production.
Will it be a heavenly or a hellish picnic?
A delicious vegetarian meal is served during the show.
You picnic in the open air so dress warmly or bring a
raincoat if the weather looks threatening.

Get lost in stories
The slightly eccentric Dr. Adams invites you into his lab.
He talks about his many inventions in his beloved city.
According to him, things have to change: he wants a
brand-new city every day.
His assistant leads you through alleys and wide boulevards but bizarre character suddenly turn up and take
over. Strange stories, comical images and moving music
disorganise HET LABYRINT VAN DR. ADAMS. Will
everything turn out all right?
During the show you walk around in the open air. Be sure
to dress warmly or bring a raincoat if necessary. A group
of 30 people departs every 20 minutes.

Opera meets cabaret
Three criminals on the run are stranded at a desolate
spot in the desert and decide to establish a new city:
Mahagonny.
Jenny, a prostitute, settles here and so do four lumberjacks from Alaska named Jim, Jack, Bill and Joe, who
have earned lots of money through hard work. They
enjoy a life of food, alcohol and sex until a hurricane
threatens the city and anarchy breaks out. Paradise
quickly turns into utter hell.
This show is not suitable for youngsters or sensitive
souls.

Magic in the forest
It’s winter in 1921. On a cold morning Lucie quietly slips
out of bed. She silently sneaks through the house, not
wanting to wake her brother Claude, and disappears
into the forest to look for the ideal hiding spot.
This dance and theatre performance takes place in the
Sint-Annabos. You sit on a pillow on the ground. Wear
suitable clothing if the weather turns cold or it rains.
Lucie hides herself so well that her brother does not find
her this time.
Lucie waits. Time passes and she slowly slips into an unfamiliar world: the world of Moonstein. Will Claude find
her before it is too late?
SHE IS MY SISTER takes place in Moonstein, a magical
universe inhabited by remarkable characters that float
between life and death and much further…

Celebrating the end exuberantly
Unusual things occur in Mr. Fisher’s ordinary room.
Objects come to life and nothing is as it seems. Tonight
four friends come to visit. In their loneliness they feel
connected to each other.
The Swedish artist Anna Nilsson performed EXPIRY
DATE at the Zomer van Antwerpen in 2014. This year
she and her new troupe PETRI DISH mix dance, theatre
and circus.
Together they make a drastic decision: they won’t pretend
anymore. They want to be able to say: “We lived, we got
the maximum out of life, and we will try to remain true
to ourselves.” Tonight they fight the ultimate battle: mankind versus nature, society versus individuals, man versus
himself. Together they dare to let go. The five decide to
exuberantly celebrate the beginning of the end.
DRIFTEN is performed indoors. Sit on the bleachers and
enjoy the show, which is suitable for the whole family.

A raw comedy
The Chinese restaurant De Gouden Draak is located in
an apartment building in a large European city. Six Asian
illegal immigrants are wrenched between steaming woks
in a kitchen that’s much too small. The youngest suffers
from a toothache but doesn’t dare to go to the dentist
because he’s in the country illegally.
Different characters come and go: a prospective father
who doesn’t want children, a night shop salesman with
a strange supplementary income, a hungry cricket that
does everything that the ant desires, and two stewardesses that have just returned from a long trip.
Five actors interpret 18 characters in this bittersweet
show. The result is a memorable show about the lives of
illegal immigrants.
This show takes place in open air. Be sure to bring a
warm sweater or raincoat if the weather requires it.
