BAGAT TI VA LSECCHI MUSEUM Historic House Museum Milan, Italy Special Events A MANSION ALL TO YOURSELF The Bagatti Valsecchi Museum One of the most important and best preserved Historic House Museums of Europe, the museum is housed on the first, or “noble,” floor of a structure inspired by lordly sixteenth century Lombard mansions. The artistic patrimony gathered at the end of the nineteenth century for the family home is presented, today, just as it was: elegant painted panels and precious collections of furnishings, ivory and gilded metalwork, majolica, arms, glass and textiles. The perfect setting The Bagatti Valsecchi Museum is nestled in the heart of historic downtown Milan a few steps away from via Montenapoleone in the city’s famous “Quadrilatero” haute couture quarter. The museum is the perfect setting for moments dedicated to work encounters, socializing and high quality events. The unique characteristics of the surroundings contribute to the success of every initiative taking place, here. Companies, institutions and private individuals may stage special events in the intriguing spaces of the museum, offering an opportunity to live a fascinating experience in one of the city’s most important treasures. its history In the second half of the nineteenth century, the brothers Fausto and Giuseppe Bagatti Valsecchi restructured their Milanese family home. The uniqueness of the project lies in the creation of a totally integrated environment in which the building, decoration and precious objects collected all contribute equally to faithfully express a Renaissance environment. From mansion to museum The Bagatti Valsecchi family lived in the mansion until 1974; the museum was inaugurated in 1994, thanks to the support of civic institutions. All the works of art and furnishings are displayed as the brothers wished them to be at the end of the nineteenth century, thus the precious dialogue between “container” (the building and rooms) and “contained” (the collections and furnishings) make this place an extraordinary historic house museum in which culture, talent and style live in perfect harmony. Squire’s Room This ample entry room opens onto an elegant red marble stairway leading up to the rooms in the mansion used by both Fausto and Giuseppe Study Conceived of as the first experience when entering on the via Santo Spirito side, this room introduces visitors to the taste and richness that characterize the other rooms. The museum opens its doors Various spaces inside the museum are available for your special events: the Grand Salon - the most distinguished room par excellence, the Dining Room, the Study and the contiguous Loggia - a large semi-covered terrace that can be set for cocktails or refreshments and, on the ground floor, the refined Squire’s Room. Special events may take place in the museum after the evening closing at 5:30 pm. It is possible to make other special arrangements. On Mondays, when the museum is closed to the public, the spaces are available for the entire day.
