ADULT SUMMER CHALLENGE River Reads is Ouachita Parish Public Library’s summer reading program for adults that encourages all area residents to read the same book, and then participate in dialogue, discussion, and activities that widen the understanding of the book’s topic. The book is chosen each year by a group of library staff after examining dozens of suggested titles. To participate, simply read the book Born to Run and/or attend a program. Registration is not a requirement for participation, but if you would like to get into the drawing for some end-of-summer prizes, you will need to sign up online and keep track of the books you read and the summer challenges you complete. You can sign up at our website, www.oplib.org, by clicking on the Sign Up for Summer Reading link and following the instructions. Once you sign up on the website, you can enter the books you’ve read using our online book log. For every 100 pages read or challenge completed, you will earn one point. Prizes are awarded after 10 points, 25 points, and 50 points. The River Reads book, Born to Run, and the Top Five suggested titles will earn you double pages! At the end of the summer, every ten points earns an entry in the grand prize drawings. The more tickets you earn, the more chances you will have in the prize drawing! Easy! RULES AND REGULATIONS The Adult Summer Reading Challenge is open to everyone ages 18 and over. Patrons age 18 can register for either the Young Adult or the Adult Summer Reading Program, but not both. Books and challenges must be complete and logged on the summer reading webpage between May 21st and August 6th by midnight.
