Courtroom Experience
Opening Times
We are open 364 days a year for Jail Visits between 09:30am
until 5pm.
Matthew Weeks is accused of the murder of his girlfriend,
Charlotte Dymond. You must act as a member of the jury; Watch
the trial and based on the evidence presented, cast your vote. Do
you find Matthew guilty or not guilty? Afterwards go down to the
spooky holding cells and imagine how Matthew would have felt
waiting for his turn to take the stand, in a cell not much bigger than
one metre square in size! Take part in a real slice of Bodmin’s
history, all lead by one of our knowledgeable and friendly guides.
Our fully licensed Bar is open from 09:30, and the restaurant
serves food from 10:30 am until 9pm - 8:30pm on Sundays

Tourist
Information
The Bodmin & Wenford Railway is Cornwall's premier steam railway.
Operating over 6.5 miles of steeply graded track through some
idyllic countryside we re-create the atmosphere and nostalgia of a
typical Cornish branch line in the 1950's. Close to the A30 and with a
mainline connection at Bodmin Parkway, and with fun for all the
family we run scheduled passenger trains for 220 days every year.
Dog friendly.

This museum first opened in the depot in 1925 and now housed
in The Keep, a Grade II listed building, seeks to bring alive the
history of the County Regiment of Cornwall. The Museum
follows from the regiment’s beginnings in 1702 when the ‘Fox’s
Marines’ were raised, right through to the present day after the
amalgamation in 2007 of several Light Infantry regiments to form
‘The Rifles’.

By train
*Bodmin sits on the edge of the windswept area that is
Bodmin Moor. From walking, bird watching, granite tors
and ancient stone circles, there is something for everyone to
explore and enjoy here.
*Camel Valley Vineyard sits just outside of Bodmin along
the Camel Trail. Go on one of the vineyard tours and
sample some of the award winning wines. You will quickly
see why their wines have won so many medals!
*If you are looking for family fun in the great outdoors, the
Forestry Commission’s Cardinham Woods is situated just
two miles from Bodmin. With way marked trails, a children’s
play area, cafe and bbq area, it’s great to while away an
afternoon. Also, if mountain biking is your bag, then the
Woods have some great, new trails.
*Just to the North West of Bodmin is the stunning Georgian
house and garden of Pencarrow. Still lived in by its owners,
you can enjoy an interesting guided tour of the house, go
strawberry picking or explore the lovely gardens.
Bodmin Parkway is the mainline station and
although it is three miles outside of Bodmin town
there are regular buses linking the two. In addition,
First Great Western offer a special inclusive ticket
from any rail station in Devon and Cornwall that
brings you to the Bodmin and Wenford Railway
which is directly in the town and just a short walk
from all the other attractions.
By Bus
Bodmin has excellent bus links with many of the
major towns in Cornwall including Padstow,
Wadebridge, Truro, Liskeard and St Austell. The
Information Centre can help you with timetables.
01208 76616 and press option 1.
By Bike
Bodmin is a real network of cycle trails. The
National Cycle Route 3 comes directly into Bodmin
as does the Camel Trail. Feel free to lock your bike
up on Mount Folly Square leaving you “bike free” to
explore the town on foot.
By Car
Bodmin is conveniently situated at the heart of
Cornwall and is signposted from both the A30 and
A38.
