Your hosts: Rodney Miller & Jann Carl Rodney, Creator/Co-Host of Small Town Big Deal, grew up in a small town in Southern Illinois. Although his career took him to the far corners of the world, his true passion has always been for small town America. He had a dream to create a television show that showcased the remarkable people and captivating stories happening in those towns everyday. Against the odds he made his dream a reality, Small Town Big Deal went on the air on RFD-TV in September 2012. Jann, Producer/Co-Host of Small Town Big Deal has been telling great stories her entire career as an Emmy Award winning broadcast journalist. “I’ve been in the television industry for all of my adult life, and I am seeing a shift in programming, moving away from negative and towards optimistic. Small Town Big Deal is ahead of the curve on this, and the fans are responding favorably!” Rodney Miller: From Farmboy to CEO to TV Host! Before creating Small Town Big Deal Rodney enjoyed a long career in farm machinery manufacturing and sales. He served as CEO of McCormick International, USA in Duluth, GA until May 2010. Previously he was CEO of Montana Tractors, located in Springdale, AR. Rodney led a team that took Montana Tractors from $2 million in annual revenue to over $80 million in just three years. Before his stints as a CEO, Rodney helped Valtra Tractors set up USA operations and was responsible for sales in the Midwest. In the 90’s, he was a territory manager for both Long and Mahindra Tractor companies. His career experience extends to ownership in a tractor dealership he operated for more than 10 years in Illinois. He currently serves on several boards: Georgia FFA Sponsor Board, Georgia Agribusiness Council, Illinois Rural Heritage Museum, and Georgia Agritourism Association. He still maintains a farming operation in Illinois as well as South Georgia — and is founder and owner of a large corn maze/agritourism destination in metro Atlanta! Jann Carl: Trading Hollywood’s Red Carpets for America’s Back Roads Jann has worked as a news reporter and anchor as well as a television producer and writer. But she is perhaps best known for her 14 years on “Entertainment Tonight”— interviewing celebrities and working the red carpets. Jerry Lewis hand picked her to co-host the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Labor Day Telethon in 1996 and has been part of that broadcast ever since. She has served on the MDA Board of Directors and is currently a National Vice President of the organization. She has also co-hosted ABC’s “Oscar Countdown” Academy Awards show, “Countdown to the Emmys” and the Tournament of Roses Parade on CBS and HGTV. A graduate of the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism, her alma mater acknowledged her professional accomplishments and her service to the University with the Faculty-Alumni Award.
