CLASSIFICATION API
Viscosity
This standard distinguishes motor oils according to
engine type: petrol (gasoline) marked with
“S” (= Service) and compression ignition (diesel)
marked with a “C” (= Commercial).The power stage is
expressed for the engine type the next letter (from “A”
above). What is the next letter in the alphabet, the better the oil. Typically, if the first mentioned specification
“S”, the oil is designed primarily for gasoline engines,
where “C” for diesel engines.
Viscosity is a measure of internal friction. Expresses
resistance which counteracts the fluid forces in order
to move its smallest particles .It is a variable quantity
dependent on the temperature. In order a good lubricity
the viscosity of oil varies depending on the temperature
as less as possible. This dependence is determined by
the so-called. viscosity index. The larger the index is,
the dependence of viscosity on temperature changes
less. To characterize the properties of viscosity of
motor oils we use specification by SAE (Society of
Automotive Engineers, USA).For the classification of
oils this Standard use 6 winter categories designated
by number and the letter “W” (from Eng. Winter) and 5
summer categories indicated only by numbers
Winter categories: 0W, 5W, 10W, 15W, 20W, 25W
Summer categories: 20,30,40,50,60
The value of the winter signs,determines oil at low temperatures (e.g. SAE 15W oil pumpability limit is -25 ° C).
The value of the summer signs,determines oil use in
summer temperatures . If labeling only use one category, it means that it is a single stage oil (summer or winter).If a combination of summer and winter categories
used (e.g. 5W-40), it is a year-round or multi-grade oil.
In the present multistage or year-round oils are almost
exlusively used.For our climate zone the most common
grade is SAE 15W-40th.
Performance specification
Performance specification describes the immediate and long-term properties of engine oil in different
forms of traffic load. They assessed various properties
such as oxidation stability, evaporation, anti-wear and
deposit formation, corrosion, fuel economy, and so on.
To mark the Performance category of motor oils are
used the following standards:
a) Classification of API (American Petroleum Institute,
USA)
b) Classification of ACEA (Association des Constructeurs Européens d’Automobile, EU)
c) Company standards of engine and vehicle manufacturers (VW, MB, MAN, VOLVO, TATRA)
d) Classification MIL-L (U.S. military standards)
e) Other classifications (ILSAC)
Currently API, ACEA and corporate standards of engine
manufacturers and vehicles are the most important.
Classification CCMC is already outdated.
For example:
SJ / CF - primarily oil for gasoline engines, usable also for diesel engines
CE / SG - primarily oil for diesel engines, usable also for petrol engines.
Performance categories for petrol engines.
SA oils without additives for engines operating under mild conditions with a small load,produced in the years 1940-1950
SB oils with additives against the sediments build-
up, for engines made in
the years 1951-1963
SC oils with additives against deposit formation and low temperature sludge for engines manufactured in the years 1964-1967
SD doped oils with detergent and dispersing additives for engines manufactured in the years 1968 - 1971
SE oils for extremely high stress, meeting the
requirements of manufacturers of engines manufactured from 1971 to 1979
SF oils for extreme load of engines manufactured between 1980-1989, compared to SE improved anti-wear properties, the stability of oxidation and protection against deposit formation
SG oils for engines built after 1989, meeting the strictest requirements to minimize wear and reduce the formation of sludge
SH oil of the same features as SG, but are tested under the most demanding protocol CMA (Chemi-
cal Manufactures Association). Designed for engines manufactured in 1996 and earlier
SJ oils for petrol engines, having highest quality so far, considering the strictest emission standards and requirements for fuel economy. For engines manufactured in 2001 and earlier
SL oils overcoming API SJ with increased fuel economy and with the possibility of extended
exchange periods. Used in all vehicles fitted with American petrol engines
SM oils of the highest quality surmounting API SL with increased oxidative stability and greater protection against wear and sediments. That validity since 2004

Performance categories for diesel (compression ignition) engines:
CA oils for naturally aspirated, slightly strained,diesel engines manufactured between 1940-1960
CB oils for naturally aspirated mid-stressed engines manufactured between 1949-1964
CC oil for mildly supercharged, mid-stressed engines made in the years 1964 - 1970
CD oils for supercharged, highly stressed engines manufactured between 1970-1979. Contain
additives to stop formation of high temperature deposits and bearing corrosion
CD II oils for two-stroke engines
CE oils for a powerful, heavy duty, high speed, super
charged engines manufactured after 1983
CF replacing CD oils for engines with indirect injec
tion but also other engines, including those that burn fuel with a sulfur content of 0.05%
CF-2 oils for two-stroke engines,oils with additives against the sediments build-up, also contain anti-wear additives
CF-4 oils for maximum duty engines of heavy vehicles operating in demanding conditions. Established in 1990
CG-4oils for diesel engines manufactured since 1995 with emphasis on the implementation of emis
sion limits. Oil for high-speed engines working in
the most demanding road and off-road conditions
CH-4oils for high speed,the most strained engines working in the most demanding road and off-road conditions, burning fuel with sulfur content less than 0.5%. Established in 1998
CI-4 introduced in 2002. Oils for high-speed,the most strained engines with exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) complying with the emission limits set by the 2004
CJ-4 introduced in 2006. Excellent protection against wear of and soot thickening and excellent purity of piston, for engines burning fuels with less than 0.05% of sulfur and meeting emission limits of 2007 using the particle filter (PDF)
ACEA classification
ACEA - Association of European designers vehicles
- replaced in 1991 CCMC - Automobile Constructors
Association, which was founded in 1972 in response to
the API specifications,because they were not fully suitable for the European engine types that are structurally
different from the U.S..
Classification of ACEA in 2004 divided the new engine
oils into three groups:
A/B Oils for petrol and diesel cars and light vans
COils compatible with catalytic converters
EOils for diesel engines of heavy trucks
The power level is expressed for the type of engine by
number ( “1” and above). The higher this number is, the
higher quality oil.
Standards of automobile and engine manufacturers.
Many car and engine manufacturers require,that the
motor oils meet additional requirements, which are not
included in the methodology of previous classifications.
The following standards are the best known
VW 501.01 oils for petrol and naturally aspirated
diesel engines
VW 500.00 oils for petrol naturally aspirated engines and fuel-saving diesel engines
VW 505.00 505.00 oils for naturally aspirated and turbocharged diesel engines
VW 505.01 oil for engines pump-nozzle with extended drain intervals
VW507.00 oils for diesel engines, reduction of sulphate ash extended drain intervals. Suitable for engines with diesel particulate filter
MB 228.1 oils for naturally aspirated and turbo-
charged diesel engines
MB 228.3 oil for naturally aspirated and turbo
charged diesel engines of cars and trucks, suitable for long distance transport and extended exchange periods.
MB 228.5 for a similar application area as MB 228.3, but with a higher value - possible further extension of the exchange periods in light categories up to 45000 km, in heavy cat-
egories to 160 000 km (service indicator)
MB 228.51 oils for trucks, limiting sulphate ash, sulfur and phosphorus, approximately as the ACEA E6
MB 229.1 oils for passenger vehicles with extended drain intervals (30 000 km)
MB 229.3 oils for passenger vehicles with extended drain intervals (30 000 km)
MB 229.51 for passenger cars with diesel engine, equipped with a particulate filter for petrol engines with extended service intervals. Based on the requirements of ACEA A3/B4 and C3 oils corresponding to this specifi-
cation are low ash and long life.
MAN 271 corresponds approximately to ACEA E2
MAN M3275corresponds approximately to ACEA E3
MAN M3277 corresponds approximately to ACEA E4, comparable with MB 228.5
MAN M3477 corresponds approximately to ACEA E6, comparable with 228.51 MB

Motor oils for two-stroke engines motorcyclists,
mopeds, scooters, lawnmowers and chainsaws are
frequently classified according to API standards (USA)
and JASO (Japan):
TA API / JASO FA oil for mopeds and other small engines
API TB / JASO FB oil for scooters and other highly burdened engines 50 to 200 ccm
AP TC / JASO FC oils for high performance engines

GUIDING PRINCIPLES FOR THE SELECTION OF MOTOR OIL:
1.
Follow the manufacturer’s instructions, that are in each vehicle handbook. Manufacturer of auto-mobiles recommends oil according to the performance specifications and viscos-
ity specifications.
2.
For oils of the same performance specification is recommended the same exchange time (petrol engines - 15 000 km, diesel engines - 8-15000 km).
3. If oil meets the standards, you can use it.
4.
If you change the oil of low performance specifications for high performance oil, shorten the period of the first exchange so the sediments can be flushed out.
5. Do not mix mineral oils with synthetic oils.

To characterize the properties of viscosity of gear
oils,specification by SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers, USA) is in use .For the classification of oils,this
standard use 4 winter categories designated by number and the letter “W” (from Eng. Winter), and 5 summer categories marked with numbers.
Winter categories: 70W, 75W, 80W, 85W.
Summer categories: 80, 85, 90, 140, 250.
Performance categories
To designate performance categories of gear oils,
classification by API (American Petroleum Institute,
USA) is in use. Performance grade designation consists of the letters “GL” (from the English Gear Lubricant) and 1-6 numbers that indicate performance level.
In present, the following four performance grades
are in use.
GL-3 low additivated oils for manual-shift gearboxes with medium strain;
GL-4 highly additivated oils,designed primarily for manual-shift gearboxes and a little strained hypoid gears;
GL-5 oils for highly strained hypoid gears operating in the most difficult operating conditions, subjected to a varying shock strain;
GL-6 oils for hypoid gears operating under extreme conditions. So far is used very rarely.
Oils API GL-5 and GL-6, although they have a higher
performance class as API GL-4, are not suitable for
use in manual gear-boxes, as it may cause clogging of
synchronous and gear damage.
Same as with engine oil ,there are standards of gears
manufacturers, but are applied almost exclusively in
the specification of requirements for oil for automatic
transmissions (Voith, ZF, GM, Ford, Allison
Guiding principles for choosing the right gear oil::
1.
Follow the instructions of the vehicle manu
facturer, included in the manual for each vehicle. Manufacturer of gear-box or vehicle will recommend the best type of oil, according to the performance specifications (e.g, API GL-4, API GL-5, VW TL 726Y) and viscosity SAE specifications (e.g 75W, 80W-90 ...).
2.
In the case of synchronous gear box use API GL-4 oil,for hypoid gear use API GL-5 . Do not change them,it can damage the synchro-
nization, respectively hypoid gears.
3. Recommended oils provide informations regarding the exchange periods. Cars with manual gear use mostly lifelong cartridges.
4. If you do not have the manual for the car, ask the manufacturer (seller) of the vehicle.

It has very good heat transfer qualities and protects the engine and cooling system. The most
important for year-round protection of cooling systems are corrosion inhibitors( highly-effective
substances that prevent rust formation on different materials such as copper, solder, brass,
steel, aluminum, cast iron). They do not contain harmful and prohibited substances as nitrates,
phosphates, amines or borax and they do not damage gaskets and rubber. Corrosion inhibitor
for DYNAMAX COOL ULTRA G12++ also contains silicates for maximum protection (especially for
cars with high level of load, for example sports cars).

PROFILE OF THE COMPANY
EURO-VAT, Ltd is a manufacturing and trade company which
was established twenty years ago. Among its portfolio belongs
wholesale, retail and build-to-order manufacturing. Today
the company is operating not only in domestic market, but it
has successfully launched in Hungary, Austria, Germany, Romania and Czech Republic thanks to the introduction of the quality management system according to the
regulation EN ISO90001:2008.
In 2001 EURO-VAT developed its activities also within the production area. The production and bottling of the petrochemical
products has been carried out since then in accordance with
the highest quality standards in the premises of the present
headquarter. Apart from a wide range of world-known products
in industrial segment there is also provided technical consulting and recommendations on suitable lubricants and technological liquids.
In the present the company EURO-VAT belongs to the strategic partners on Slovak market in the field of production and
distribution of the products for petrol stations, retail chains,
or specialized shops with car accessories, and auto services. Currently, the product range consists of more than
three thousand items of oils, lubricants, technical liquids,
car care products, car parts, car accessories, including also a range of barbicue products, etc.
Currently, the company EURO-VAT is producing hundreds of
its own products, but also provides technical and professional
support for production of private brands. Among its services
belongs also technical consulting and analysis of suitable lubricants and technological liquids.
Since 1994 EURO-VAT has been operating as a trade company
which at the beginning of new millenium extended its business
activities to manufacturing. So nowadays EURO-VAT is producing, mixing, bottling and packaging liquid chemical products
in amount of a hundred thousand tons of liquid products
annually.

In 2008 the company was awarded by the
prestigious medal of Slovak Gold and the Certificate of Quality Trademark for the condenser
coolant Dynacool Ultra. The product meets the
material requirements in the range of properties of device VW TL 774 D.
In 2012 a DYNAMAX bottle visual, from own company product
line, was awarded by a „Reddot design award“, one of the biggest design contests in the world. Design Zentrum Nordrhein
Westfalen has regularly evaluated quality design - communication, production design and prototypes since 1954. It belongs to
the internationally recognized quality assessors.
