Zara Simon’s second collection, ‘Formentera’, draws inspiration from
the raw beauty of the sea and the simple yet intricate natural landscape of the Balearic Islands. Each piece has it’s own unique affiliation with nature. From pendants in chalcedony criss-crossed with gold
webs, like trails across a sandy beach, to rings designed in the shape
of a sea-shell. Zara has combined the natural beauty of her favourite
island with it’s historic man-made style. Rosary chains marry the human influence on the islands with the rustic nature that is synonymous
with ‘Formentera’. Stand out pieces include the ‘Star Dust’ pendant
with labradorite and gold stars cascading gently from a simple gold
chain. The ‘Eye of tHorus’ from A/W 08 has been revised for S/S 09
with the introduction of brilliant aqua and more subtle translucent blue
chalcedony.
New styles such as the ‘Flash’ ring depict Zara’s movement to an even
more sophisticated and elegant style whilst maintaining her love for
simple wearable jewellery. Intricate gold earrings inspired by the traditional style of filigree supplement more simple gold hoops and beaten
gold bangles which can be stacked according to the wearers whim.
Zara Simon’s ‘Formentera’ collection includes elegant and beautiful
