Christmas will be here before we know it. As we drive through town we
can’t help but notice the beautiful Christmas decorations. A big THANK YOU
to Mid-American Energy, the Cherokee City workers and Champion Electric
for getting that done. Thank you also to the staff at Cherokee Work Activity
Center for checking the light bulbs and fuses in the decorations before they
went up. Everyone working together is what gets things done.
Thank you to everyone for supporting this year’s Holiday Raffle Ticket
fundraiser. Monies raised from this event are used to purchase the flower baskets on Main Street and for upkeep of our Christmas decorations. We will be
putting together a committee to meet after the first of the year to discuss a
strategy to replace the Christmas decorations as they are showing some wear.
Anyone wanting to be a part of those discussions may contact me.
Congratulations to City Administrator, Don Eikmeier on winning this year’s
Celebrity Scrooge Contest. Together, our candidates raised over $1,500 to
donate to the area food pantries. Don served as Grand Marshall of the Lighted
Christmas Parade, which was a great way to send him off as he is retiring at
the end of the year. Help us welcome Sam Kooiker to Cherokee as the new City
Administrator. Sam started working at City Hall this month to learn his new
position and will officially take over as City Administrator on January 1.
2016 Chamber Dues information will be mailed this month. Please look for
that information to arrive soon.
Have a wonderful month and remember…...
