Level 1 — If you have basic sewing experience and can sew a straight line
on the sewing machine.
Level 1b — If you have basic sewing machine experience and know how to
use a rotary cuer, mat and ruler these classes are available:
Level 2 — If you have taken a beginner level class and are comfortable
with basic sewing, patchwork and applique skills.
A warm welcome back to Terrie Kygar, Creative Crayon Quilts author, who
began quilting at age 17. As Terri progressed in her quiltmaking, she discovered
her favorite technique- fusible appliqué. She had always loved to color and
experimented with several mediums from colored pencils, markers, fabric paint
and finally to Crayola crayons... and voila!... her Melt-n-Blend technique was
born, giving her quilts added depth, beauty and realism.
Creative Crayon Quilts
A warm welcome to Rita Verocca, award winning quilter and teacher in the fine
art of hand applique, whose quilts have been exhibited in the U.S.A., Europe
and Japan. Author of Baltimore Album of Roses, Rita is a passionate teacher
with great skills and contagious enthusiasm for appliqué, as she combines old
heritage quilt patterns with delightful and playful arrangements.

Teacher: Rita Verroca. (All Levels) Rita is
introducing a series of “BLOC” classes in
Baltimore Album style quilting for both novice
and advanced applique connoisseurs, taken
individually or consecutively, as you build your
skills working at your own pace. Learn or
perfect your needle turn appliqué skills while
focusing on the following: basic stitch, perfect
points, inverted
V’s and valleys, reverse appliqué, skinny stems,
and split leaves. Rita will discuss tricks and
techniques to create shading, contour,
movement and texture using the print of a
fabric to its best advantage, and how detail
inking and embroidery can further enhance
your design. In October and November,
choose from two blocks: Flower Bouquet with
Birds for beginners, and Flowers for Martha for those with experience; each
quarter a new block will be introduced.

2017 Calendar Quilt

Teacher: Terrie Kygar. (All Levels) In this technique
based class, Terrie will teach you her Melt-n-Blend
method for tinting and shading fabric with crayon,
colored pencils and markers with beautiful artistic
results. In three to five easy coloring exercises,
students will color a quail, pine cone, two fall leaves,
an acorn, and a bird. New motifs will be available
for returning students to build their skills. Once
learned, this technique can be used to modify any applique pattern!
