@mitty has been designed to provide the finest all-day,
Athletic Camps
• Grades 3rd-9th
• Learn the fundamentals of a sport
• Develop and improve skills
• I hour and 50 minutes each day for one week
• Camps are generally divided up by grade:
3rd and 4th graders
5th and 6th graders
7th, 8th, and 9th graders
all-encompassing, summer program in the Silicon Valley.
With our extremely knowledgeable faculty, coaches, and
staff, students and campers alike will receive quality
instruction in a fun and exciting atmosphere. Our athletic
and enrichment camps and academic summer school
allow children to participate in a variety of activities
throughout the day. These offerings will challenge and
inspire current elementary, junior high, and high school
students. Students and campers who participate in the
@mitty summer program will enjoy themselves as they
experience Archbishop Mitty High School’s strong tradition
of academic, athletic, and co-curricular excellence.

Scheduling Your Summer
During the summer, there will be opportunities to
take one or multiple camps each week. Mix and
match your choices to create your own all-day
experience here at Mitty. Below is a sample schedule
listing only a few of the choices offered in our @mitty
program in order to highlight the possibilities available.
A complete list of our offerings can be found as an insert
at the back of the brochure.

The @mitty summer program offers an outstanding opportunity for campers and students
to learn from and develop a connection with current Archbishop Mitty coaches, faculty
members, and students.
How to Register
Registration for @mitty will begin on March 1st. All
registration will take place via the @mitty website,
www.mitty.com/summer. Some classes and camps
have limited space and will be filled on a first-come,
first-serve basis. Please register early to ensure that your
requests can be filled.

ATHLETIC CAMPS
Boys and Girls Basketball
$135
Directors: Tim Kennedy, AMHS Men’s Varsity Basketball Coach
and Sue Phillips, AMHS Women’s Varsity Basketball Coach
All Skills: Designed for the basketball player who wants to improve
on his or her all-around skills, such as dribbling, shooting, passing,
and defensive techniques and concepts.
Shooting Skills: Whether playing in the post or on the perimeter,
this specialized camp focuses on proper footwork and shooting
techniques to maximize your shooting potential.
Offensive Skills: Learn the art of scoring. This specialized camp will
enhance your ability to score by improving your ball handling skills,
stationary moves, techniques coming off varied screens, and scoring
off of the dribble.
Intro to Field Hockey

Director: Justina Williams AMHS Varsity Field Hockey Coach
Do you want to learn a new sport? Come out and be introduced to
the 2nd most popular sport in the world in a fun, friendly environment!
Learn how to dribble, pass, shoot and score goals. Wear comfortable
athletic attire. Field hockey sticks to be provided; however, players
should have their own soccer shin guards.
Field Hockey

Director: Justina Williams, AMHS Varsity Field Hockey Coach
Players will learn and practice the fundamentals of the game such
as passing and receiving, offensive possession skills, defensive
positioning, and tackling. Field hockey sticks to be provided;
however, players should have their own soccer shin guards.
Full-Contact Football
$225
Director: Matt Haniger, AMHS Varsity Football Coach
Campers will learn and practice the basics of contact football,
including correct use of equipment and pads, offensive and
defensive skills, positions, and much more. Campers will be
grouped by age, size, and ability to assure maximum competition
and safety. Coaches will instruct and demonstrate safe-hitting
technique: head and face position, back angle, arm wrap, and hip
extension. New this year, campers will have a 30 minute film session
to review previous day’s practice and watch plays from Mitty’s own
game film. Each camper will be given a helmet and pads to use.
They will also receive a mouthpiece and girdle, which they keep.
Offensive and Defensive Football Skills:

Director: Matt Haniger, AMHS Varsity Head Football Coach
Using drills and detailed instruction, campers will learn basic offensive
and defensive fundamentals, including linemen skills, in a non-contact
environment. This camp will cover proper stance and footwork for
each position, throwing a football, proper route running, catching
and securing a football and much more. This is a non-contact camp
that does not require pads or a helmet.
Boys Football Conditioning
$65
Director: Matt Haniger, AMHS Varsity Football Coach
During this three week camp, players will develop their pre-season
conditioning, with an emphasis in speed training, endurance, flexibility,
agility, and strength.
Lacrosse
$150
Director: Wade Tam, AMHS Varsity Lacrosse Coach
Mitty Lacrosse Camps are designed for players of all skill levels.
Beginning players will learn basic skills, including throwing, catching,
ground balls, basic team offense and basic individual and team
defense all in a fun and active environment. More advanced or
experienced players, will hone their skill sets with advanced shooting
and dodging work for offensive players and specific skill breakdowns
and technique work for defenders including live half field drills.
Each camper will be given a helmet, pads, and sticks to use. Players
can bring their own equipment if desired. Cleats are required.
Note: All athletic camps are one week for 1 hour and 50 minutes unless
otherwise stated on the Master Schedule.
Boys and Girls Soccer

Director: Cesar Sanchez, AMHS Men’s Varsity Soccer Coach
and JT Hanley, AMHS Women’s Varsity Soccer Coach
Develop your technical and tactical soccer skills. In our camps,
younger players will concentrate on improving their individual skills
such as dribbling, passing, receiving and controlling the ball, defending
and tackling, as well as shooting. Older and more experienced
players will focus on group sessions covering the basics of team
play, with an emphasis on group defending and attacking tactics
and techniques, along with more advanced technical ball skills.
Girls and Boys Volleyball

Director: Bret Almazan-Cezar, AMHS Women’s Varsity Coach
and Will Yuen, AMHS Men’s Varsity Head Coach
Whether one is a beginner or a more seasoned player, these
volleyball camps are designed to have a fun learning experience
while improving his or her skills. Camps are available for students
entering 3rd through 9th grade, ranging from the All Skills camps to
more specialized Pass and Dig camps.
Girls Sand and Grass Volleyball
$135
Director: Bret Almazan-Cezar, AMHS Women’s Varsity Coach
This camp is designed to introduce volleyball players to the sports
of sand and grass volleyball. The camp will be held on the new
Kerri Walsh court and surrounding grass areas. The camp is available
for students entering 7th through 9th grade.
Girls Volleyball Pass and Dig

Director: Bret Almazan-Cezar, AMHS Women’s Varsity Coach
This camp is for the volleyball player that is looking to further develop
her ball control skills of passing and digging.
Boys and Girls Water Polo
$135
Director: Aaron Waldrip, AMHS Women’s Varsity Water Polo Coach
Beginning campers will be introduced to the basic skills and game
rules of water polo. Key elements of ball handling, including passing, catching, and shooting, as well as body movement, such as
swimming, treading, and vertical and lateral movement, will be
taught and developed. For more experienced water polo players,
strategy and fundamental skills will be covered through detailed
instruction, drills, and game situations.
Junior Monarch Baseball

This is a great week for campers going into the 3rd thru 6th grade to
have fun and learn the game baseball. This camp is designed to
be high energy with the fundamentals taught through a variety of
interactive activities in the morning and then in the afternoon
campers will play organized games. Lunch will be provided.

Junior Monarch Recreation Sport Camp

Directors: Nicki Limoges, former AMHS Volleyball and Softball
Coach and Jim Fallis, former AMHS Basketball Coach
This week of camp is all about fun. From 8:30am to 12:20pm
campers, both boys and girls, going into 1st thru 4th grade will be
taught skills relating to a variety of traditional sports such as football,
basketball, soccer, and volleyball, as well as play other game centered activities such as kickball, capture the flag, and ultimate
Frisbee. The Directors, along with AMHS student staff, will work
conscientiously to provide an exciting and welcoming environment
for all campers. Snacks will be provided, but campers should wear
athletic shoes and apparel, as well as bring a bottle of water.
Junior Monarch Field Hockey Camp

Director: Justina Williams, AMHS Varsity Field Hockey Coach
This camp for girls going into 1st thru 4th grade and is a great way
to introduce your daughter to one of the fastest growing sports in
America. Taught by AMHS’ own head Varsity coach, Justina Williams,
and her players, this camp will go over the fundamentals of the sport

ENRICHMENT CAMPS
Art Exploration

Director: Peggy Lemak, AMHS Visual Art Department Chair
Explore color while creating paintings in watercolor, acrylic, and various
mix-media. This one-week class will introduce young artists to the
elements and principles of art using various materials and techniques.
Graphic Design
$125
Director: Katie Epidendio, AMHS Photography and Art Teacher
Learn and apply the primary elements of graphic design using
state-of-the-art computer programs. Discover your talent for creating
eye-catching graphics and pictures using Photoshop and Illustrator.
This camp is suitable for those new to the computer design, as well
as the tech savvy.

Digital Photography
Director: Katie Epidendio, AMHS Photography and Art Teacher
Explore the different types of photography—nature, portraiture,
sports, and still life. Campers will study basic techniques of color
and composition and will be introduced to Photoshop in order to
learn how to manipulate photos. Note: Campers are responsible for
bringing their own digital cameras.
Robotics Camp

Director: Mike Greene, AMHS Math Teacher and Robotics Co-Moderator
Explore robotics design, mechanics, control, and programming
hands-on! You will learn the fundamentals of robot design and
engineering as you work as part of a team during this two-week
camp. Discover the fun and challenge of using VEX robotic technology.
Movie Making
$250
Director: Adam Lopiccolo, AMHS Alumnus and Film Studies Student
Enjoy bringing your imagination to the screen as you learn about all
phases of movie making, including pre-production planning,
storyboarding, digital video cameras, lighting, sound, shot
composition, and computer editing. This two-week course will be
a hands-on, creative, and fun opportunity for you to make your very
own movies from start to finish.
Web Design
$250
Director: Eric Anderson, AMHS Director of Information Technology
Discover the basic elements of web design, and use them to create
your very own website that includes graphics, text, and animation.
In this two-week camp, students will learn a basic understanding of
HTML (the language used to program web pages) by the end of the
first week. Students will move on to advanced web programming
techniques in the second week by focusing on layout and design
in order to create a fully functional and professional looking website.
In this class, students will learn how to implement modern design
principals with HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
Reading and Writing
$250
Director: Kendra Hofmann-Curry, AMHS English Teacher
Become a more confident and proficient reader and writer. This
two-week course will emphasize reading comprehension using a
variety of literature ranging from novels, poetry, and short stories
and concentrate on improving writing skills in both creative and
academic writing.
Summer Musical:

Directors: Doug Santana, Anethra Moura, and Erin Lahm
AMHS Performing Arts Department
In a three-week session, learn how to be a musical theatre performer
while developing your vocal, dance, and acting skills. The camp will
culminate with an afternoon performance of the full musical, complete
with lights, beautiful scenery and amazing costumes. This year’s
Summer Musical will be the fun and exciting Once on this Island.
Note: The musical performance will take place on June 28th and is
mandatory to attend if you are taking this camp.
ADVANCED ATHLETIC CAMPS
AND CLINICS
Advanced Camps and Clinics will be offered for experienced
athletes who are looking to improve their skills and prepare themselves
for high school competition.

Advanced Grass and Sand Volleyball
This camp is designed for the volleyball player that has had previous
club experience and is looking to further develop her individual
and team skills on grass and in the sand. Sessions will include skill
based training and competitive games.
Girls Advanced Volleyball
$185
This camp is designed for the volleyball player that has had previous
club experience and is looking to further develop her individual
and team skills. Sessions will include breakouts by position, attacking
and blocking techniques, as well as defense. This camp is for 7th
thru 9th graders.
Advanced Baseball
$185
This camp is for 8th and 9th graders who are interested in learning
the advanced skills necessary to become a competitive player at
the high school level. Campers will be instructed in throwing, pitching,
batting, fielding, and strength and conditioning. Video analysis of
basic skills will be performed with players receiving a DVD copy.
Baseball Hitting Clinic
$185
This camp is for baseball players that are looking to improve their
hitting skills through detailed instruction on the field and in the batting
cages, along with video taped swing analysis. Participants should
be aware that this camp’s focus is to instruct the player on proper
hitting techniques and is designed so that it is not physically taxing,
which should allow campers to play in any regularly scheduled games
on the same day.
Baseball Pitching and Catching Clinic
$185
This camp is designed for aspiring or experienced pitchers and
catchers. Pitchers will receive instruction on the mechanics, arm
care, and the mental aspects of pitching. Instruction on various
pitches and philosophies of how to attack hitters will also be
discussed. Catchers will be schooled in the fundamentals of receiving,
blocking, throwing, fielding, and pitch calling. Video analysis for
both pitchers and catchers will be used to help campers improve
their skill level. Campers will leave with an arsenal of drills and an
understanding of the mental side of pitching and catching.
Advanced Softball
$185
This camp is for players who are interested in learning the advanced
skills necessary to become a competitive player at the high school
level. Proper hitting and throwing mechanics, pitching and catching,
as well as fielding, team defense, and baserunning will be covered
through instruction and drills.
Softball Hitting Clinic
$185
This camp is for softball players that are looking to improve their
hitting skills through detailed instruction on the field and in the batting
cages. This camp’s focus is to instruct the player on proper hitting
techniques and is designed for those looking to play softball at the
high school level.
