Welcome
What makes a wine fine? Origin, quality, rarity, price: all
are criteria we use when determining which wines we
list in this section of our portfolio. And “fine” is no longer
“confined” to the classic regions of Bordeaux, Burgundy and
the Rhône; California, South Africa, New Zealand, Italy,
Spain and Portugal all have niche producers making what
we consider to be iconic wines – estates like Ridge, Shafer,
Boekenhoutskloof and Kilikanoon to name but a few.
Talking of classics, we are delighted to welcome the Bordeaux
2010s onto our list. This is a superb vintage at every level
and appellation. As always the Rhône section of the list is
our pride and joy. The Bruniers continue to make some of
the very best Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with the contrasting
styles of their Vieux Télègraphe and La Roquète. Burgundy
continues to be a work in progress but we are also pleased
to introduce the Remoissenet wines and look forward to
welcoming Bernard to these shores in the autumn. We have
also strengthened our Italian section: don’t miss the stunning
Barbarescos from Piero Busso.

En Primeur Service (Wine Futures)
Over the last thirty years, we have developed strong bonds with negociants,
growers and châteaux in Bordeaux and Burgundy. Every year we travel to these
regions to taste the new wines and secure good allocations of the very best
wines for our customers. As soon as prices are released, the wines are available
for purchase “En Primeur” – the process of buying wine before it’s bottled and
released onto the market.
Wines can only be purchased by the straight case as
supplied by the winery (case sizes vary from 3, 6, 12 and
24 half bottles) and are usually delivered 2–3 years after
the vintage. The wines generally offered En Primeur by
JNWine are from Bordeaux, Burgundy, the Rhône
Valley and from Ridge Vineyards (California) and
Bodegas Artadi (Spain).
En Primeur prices exclude VAT & duty but do include
shipping from the winery to our bonded warehouse in
Belfast and then onwards to your door within NI or ROI.
Onward delivery of duty paid wines to addresses in GB
is £18.00 for 1 case and £10.95 per case thereafter (to a
maximum of 5 cases). Onward delivery to other bonded
warehouses in GB is charged at the pallet rate of £80
(up to 10 cases). Vat & duty become payable once the
wine is withdrawn from a bonded warehouse.
All delivery and storage charges, VAT & duty
rates are correct as at June 2013.

Prices are in Sterling Once the wines have arrived in Belfast, you will
be notified of their arrival and asked for storage
instructions or onward delivery instructions. You can
choose to store them in our Customers’ Reserves area of
our bonded warehouse in Belfast or have them delivered.
If/when you choose to have the wines released from a
bonded warehouse, the duty and VAT become payable at
the prevailing rates in the jurisdiction of delivery.
Duty in the UK is currently £24.00 per case (12 x 75cl
bottles) and VAT (applied to the combined purchase
price of the wine and duty) is 20%.
Duty in ROI is currently €33.36 per case (12 x 75cl
bottles) and VAT (applied to the combined purchase
price of the wine and duty) is 23%.
No other discounts or vouchers apply to En Primeur
wines.

How it works:
Selling – we list your wines on our Broking list and on
completion of the sale we will pay you the agreed selling
price less 10%. You therefore receive 90% of the selling
price. We will collect the wines (within NI) free of
charge. We also offer a free valuation service. In general
we are only interested in broking full cases unless the
single bottles are particularly rare. Where we agree to
purchase outright from a customer we will typically
pay the selling price less 20%.
Buying – please let us know if you are interested
in receiving our broking list which is updated on a
monthly basis.
Cellar Plans
If you love wine and would like to build up a personal collection from JNWine’s exclusive
range, Cellar Plan offers the ideal solution. For as little as £100 a month you can create your
own tailor made cellar with wines to suit your taste and needs. If you don’t have a suitable
place to store your wines, we can do this for you, delivering them to your door as and when
they are ready to drink. The benefit is a ready made wine collection with expenditure spread
evenly across the year.

How does it work?

On expression of interest our Fine Wine Manager
will contact you to organise either a face-to-face
meeting or a phone consultation to discuss your
budget, your tastes and your requirements.

Once the agreement is in place, your wines
will be selected for you according to the credit
in your account. However, if you wish to
exceed this amount the Cellar Plan will allow
you to reserve wines up to 3 times the amount
of your monthly subscription. Should you wish
to top this up, you can of course do so.
— Choose your outlay from as little as £100 a month.
— Flexible storage arrangements – cellar with us or
take delivery as and when suits you.
— Highly competitive storage rates, invoiced in arrears.
Terms and Conditions: Minimum membership is 12 months •
Minimum monthly subscription is £100 • You can reserve wine
providing it does not exceed 3 times the amount of the monthly
subscription. Title, on wines reserved, does not pass to the member
until JNWine has received payment in full • Storage charges incurred
can be settled through monthly payments.

Two-way selection – you can get your wine
delivered whenever it suits you, but we are
always available to give advice on drinking
windows or should you have a particular event/
function in mind.
She lectures widely on food and wine and runs
her own popular wine courses at an art gallery
close to her home. She is also wine consultant
to Ross’s Auction house in Belfast and has
organised several highly successful wine auctions
for them. Jane speaks fluent French and can
converse in German, Spanish and Russian.
Her experience as a wine judge is wide ranging.
She has been adjudicator and key judge for the
Irish Wine Show over the past two years and last
year was on the Burgundy and Austrian panels
for the Decanter World Wine Awards in London.
Her International experience includes judging
in Australia, South Africa, Italy and France.
In 2000 she became Ireland’s first female Master
of Wine and is still the only person to hold the
qualification in Northern Ireland. As a freelance wine
writer, Jane wrote the wine column for the Licensed
Catering News, Irish Tatler and Easy Food, as well as
pieces for the Irish Times, Food and Wine magazine
and other publications in Ireland, UK and abroad.

Storage is available under bond at £8.99
(€10.50) per unit case per year. The storage
year runs from 1st September – 31st August
and is billed in arrears.

CONditions of sale
PRICES
All prices are in Sterling, are for 75cl bottles unless
otherwise stated and include Value Added Tax at the
current rate (June 2013 = 20%).
DISCOUNTS
Bottle and case (12 x 75cl or equivalent) prices are
shown in this list. Case, or mixed case, prices reflect a
10% discount on the bottle prices but discounts are not
available on wines sold in bond, quarter bottles of wine,
spirits, mineral water or other non-wine products.
OFFERS
No further discounts will be available on any products
that are subject to any periodic special offer.
AVAILABILITY & PRICE GUARANTEE
Some wines are available in limited quantities only and
all products are sold subject to availability.
Prices are correct at the time of publication (June 2013).
James Nicholson Wine Limited does, however, reserve the
right to amend prices, for example following Government
or legislative changes, or in the event of major foreign
exchange movements.
VINTAGES
Vintages are correct at the time of publication (June
2013) but, wine being an agricultural product of limited
supply and finite shelf life, vintages may change,
without notice, during the life of this brochure. Prices for
subsequent vintages may differ from those quoted.
DELIVERIES
Delivery addresses in N.I.
Free for one case (12 x 75cl bottles) or more per delivery
address. £7.95 postage & packaging for deliveries of less
than 12 x 75cl bottles per delivery address.
Delivery addresses in G.B.
£10.95 postage & packaging for orders of 12 x 75cl bottles
or less per delivery address. £15.95 postage & packaging
for orders of more than 12 x 75cl bottles per delivery
address (with a maximum of 3 cases).
under bond sales
Many of our wines are available in bond (located in
Belfast). Under bond prices are available upon request.
Delivery of wine under bond to registered bonded
warehouses within the UK is charged at the pallet rate
of £80.00. We frequently amalgamate different
customers' orders for delivery under bond and split
the pallet charge accordingly.
TITLE TO GOODS
• James Nicholson Wine Limited shall retain ownership
of all Goods supplied until the customer has made
payment, in full, for the Goods.
• Until such payment, the Goods shall be properly stored
and maintained in good condition and shall at all times
be separately stored in such a way as to be identifiable as
the property of James Nicholson Wine Limited.
• The customer shall, if requested by the vendor,
immediately return or release the Goods to James
Nicholson Wine Limited.
RETURNS
• Credits, based on actual purchase prices, will be allowed
where any wines or other products are found
to be out of condition within three months of purchase.
• In other circumstances, credits will only be allowed
against goods returned to us where the wines are current
vintages, purchased within the previous three months,
and all bottles (including foils; corks; labels; other
packaging; etc.) remain in good, re-saleable condition.
Credits will again be based on actual purchase prices
but, in these circumstances, collection charges from our
carriers will be deducted from any credits allowed.

Mail order deliveries will not be despatched until
payment in full and normally by credit card, has been
received.
ERRORS & OMISSIONS
James Nicholson Wine Limited accepts no liability
arising from any errors (including typographical)
contained in, or any omissions from, this publication.

deliveries of more than 3 cases per delivery address or for
any deliveries to The Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, The Scilly
Isles and the Scottish Highlands, or for delivery of wines
purchased under bond.
