be the hallmark of a memorable
dinner party, an intimate baby
shower or a festive outdoor soiree.
That creative display can fit a theme,

The Craftsman brand has embarked on a 20-stop tour with its
“Make a Difference” program that
will restore homes of military
veterans and help communities
in need.
Together with Ty Pennington,
the tour began April 27 in Moonachie, N.J., by helping a U.S. veteran whose home was severely
affected by Superstorm Sandy.
The tour will continue across
the country in a 36-foot truck filled
with the latest Craftsman tools,
working with volunteers to pick up
a hammer and make a difference.

A “Tea at Highclere Castle,” a theme derived from
the popular PBS show
“Downton Abbey,” which
is filmed at Highclere
Castle, will be served at
1:30 p.m. Thursday. A traditional high tea will be
served, including scones,
clotted cream, finger sandwiches and pastries.
While enjoying tea,
guests can browse the oneof-a-kind tablescapes that
include place settings, centerpieces and more — all
available to bid on during
the monthlong silent auction. A portion of the proceeds benefits the ASID
Florida South Chapter’s
Student Scholarship Fund.
Designer Allison Fenn
drew inspiration for her tablescape from a poster she
purchased on her honeymoon in Hawaii. She used
an orange midcentury
modern tea service made
in England with turquoise
as the main colors mixed
with natural, more neutral
textures for balance and
texture.
Fenn selected a Ralph
Lauren Home table with a
medium-toned wood top
and polished chrome base
to continue the midcentury modern vibe. She offers
this advice for planning
the décor for a themed
party: “Don’t overdo the
theme. Instead, use colors
and textures to convey the
theme rather than the obvious.”
Designers Peggy Oberlin and Diane Torrisi partnered to create a casual
blue and white-themed
tabletop featuring European elegance with a touch
of springtime.

A seminar, “Market Preview,” featuring the latest
news in home furnishing designs, colors and accessories
from the recent High Point Market, will be presented by
Norris Home Furnishings interior designer Domnick M.
Minella 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Twice a year, High Point, N.C., hosts one of the world’s
largest home furnishings industry markets. The free
