President’s Message
Greetings fellow clubbers,
Things are moving rather fast at the Club, and we have lined
up a host of activities and events you don’t want to miss.
Dr. Kuldip Sohan
President
I start my message on a sad note.
Albert, our maintenance staff, who has been with our club for the last 6 years lost his life in a tragic accident past 3 am in
the morning of the 25th of June 2016. He leaves behind a wife with 3 children. A total of RM8,660 has been collected for
the family from our club. I would like to thank our members, members of the General Committee and staff for their
generous contributions.
Functions at our club were well supported by our members. Mothers Day Lunch saw a crowd of 87 people, Fathers Day
Lunch was taken up by 65 people and the Ramadan Dinner by 61 people. A wine promotion dinner held on the 24th of
June 2016 was also very well patronised with 37 members attending.
Our club was honoured on the 18th of May 2016 by our beloved Governor TYT Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang Dato'
Seri Utama (Dr) Haji Abdul Rahman Bin Haji Abbas. TYT Tun attended a luncheon in our Club accompanied by YBhg Dato'
Seri Nazir Ariff, Tan Sri Haji.Mohd.Yusoff bin Abdul Latiff and Mr. Bala Mahesan.
Next month we will bid farewell to our GM Mr. Rajdeep Singh Dhillon, who will be leaving to join a hotel chain. I would
like to take this opportunity to thank him for all that he has done including the implementation of new ideas and several
positive new changes he has brought to our club.We have received 108 applications for a new GM and we will be conducting
an interview beginning next week for the shortlisted candidates.
Room number 11, also known as the Executive room was destroyed badly when the ceiling collapsed a few months ago, a
tender has been approved and repairs will commence soon.
The Pool Party has been rescheduled to the 6th of August 2016, we hope to see more guests signing up for this event.
Thank you.
Happy Clubbing.
Sincerely
Dr. Kuldip Sohan
General Manager’s Message
Dear Members,
Mr. Raajdeep Dhillon
General Manager/Secretary
Things are looking more exciting than ever at the Club as we
progress into the second half of the year with a host of festivities
and celebrations coming up.
The months have flown by so quickly and, without realising it, we are
into the second half of the year. All the festive seasons will start
coming up now. Among others, five major events to look out for
would be Merdeka Night, Patron’s Night, Deepavali Night, Children’s
Christmas Party and New Year’s Eve Dinner and Dance Party.
Members’ feedback indicates that they are generally happy with the
food at the Club and that its quality has improved. Of course there
are always constructive feedbacks we receive and we use that to
correct and improve areas that are addressed. Please be assured that
we will still continue to strive further to improve the quality and
standard of your dining experience in the Club.We are happy to note
that Members are patronising the Club as often as they can. Thank
you for your kind support.
The Club organised a buffet lunch for both Mother’s Day and Father’s
Day celebration and the response was very good. The Chef provided
a wider buffet selection showcasing good quality and different choices
of food.
This will be my last message in this newsletter. I am leaving to pursue
my passion and dream. While I believe that I am moving for a good
reason, I am truly sorry to leave the people who have supported and
been a friend to me. I would like to sincerely thank the Club Members,
Committee and the team for their continuous and dedicated support
during my time here with Penang Club which I have found fulfilling
and very challenging.
For further information on the Club events, please refer to the
newsletter, website and Club noticeboards.

Wayne Falkenberg Winemaker Comments
Vintage Conditions: A mild winter led to a warm and
dry growing season with early bud burst. It was
relatively cool leading into vintage, which commenced
early as a result of normal crop levels and continuing
dry conditions. In mid-January, the season remained
dry and relatively hot with temperatures in the
mid-40˚Cs, which continued until mid-February.
Healthy leaf canopies prevented the fruit from being
affected by the sun, but the warm conditions
accelerated ripening. Rain came in mid-February,
which delayed grape harvesting and processing by
about two weeks and was accompanied by cooler
weather. Despite the delay, 2014 proved ultimately to
be another good vintage.
Grape Variety: Chardonnay
Maturation: French and American Oak
Colour: Straw coloured
Nose: Aromas of peach and stone fruits
Palate: Medium-full bodied with stone fruits,
integrated oak and a soft finish.
Vineyard Region: South Eastern Australia
Harvest Date: January to February 2014
Wine Analysis: Alc/Vol: 13.5%, Acidity: 6.4g/L, pH: 3.40.
Bottling Date: September 2014
Peak Drinking: Best Enjoyed young &fresh
Food Match: Enjoy with chicken salad or seafood
dishes.
