HELLO FROM THE FESTIVAL TEAM
March in Canberra is quickly becoming synonymous with
laughter, and this year is no exception, as the Canberra Comedy
Festival returns for its blockbuster 4th annual festival.
This year we’ve worked hard to expand our international appearances,
bringing world-class comedians from the USA, UK and IRE. In the
Australian program, old favourites mix with up-and-coming stars. Add
to this the best Canberran talent and a dedicated Children’s program
with laughs for all ages, and in 2016 we’ve certainly got something for
everybody.
㈀ ㄀㘀 ㄀㔀ⴀ㈀ 䴀愀爀挀栀
Not willing to commit to a single comedian? Check out one of our
many line-up shows, a taste of multiple comedians on the one ticket,
starting with our star-studded Opening Night Gala. And don’t forget the
Late Night Festival Club, where literally anything can happen.
This year there’s more chances than ever to be involved yourself. Why
not register as a contestant in one of our competitions, Raw Comedy
or Class Clowns, and see if you’ve got what it takes to make people
laugh. Make sure you stay interacting with us on social media and our
App.
This year, make a night of it. Our program is structured so you can see
multiple shows in one night, and the venues are close together. Share
a laugh with an old favourite, and then have your ribs tickled by a new
discovery. We’re delighted to be back for a 4th year, and look forward
to seeing you at the festival.
From the Canberra Comedy Festival Team: Tim, Paddy, Benjamin, James, and Dave
WELCOME FROM THE CHIEF MINISTER
It is a pleasure to welcome you to the Canberra Comedy Festival

Canberra Comedy Festival has been growing from strength to
strength, and the 4th annual festival will feature more shows with a
range of fantastic local acts right through to international superstars.
The ACT Government is proud to support the Canberra Comedy
Festival and I hope to join many Canberrans enjoying the festival.
Andrew Barr MLA
ACT Chief Minister

good idea to get to the show venue at least 15min before the performance commences. All
venues have bars so you can grab a drink and a good seat while you wait for the show to start.
All venues are within walking distance to each other, and are surrounded by bars, restaurants
and nightlife to make your night out a memorable one. If you’ve bought a ticket to any festival
show you can also get free entry into the late night Festival Club on the same night, featuring
comedians from the festival letting loose. Make a night of it - come in early, stay and play!
NEWS & UPDATES
EATING & DRINKING

your funny at the Opening Night Gala. The city centre is a taste sensation with stuff being

CANBERRA SIGHTSEEING
While recovering from a big night of comedy or gearing up for one, why
not see some of Canberra’s sights?
Canberra is known for it’s wealth of national institutions including National
Museum of Australia, National Gallery of Australia, National Library,
National Portrait Gallery, National Botanic Gardens, Australian War
Memorial and Questacon. All are open for daytime visits.

For more light-hearted fun drop into Canberra’s cool climate wineries and
micro breweries, or get adventurous with hot air ballooning, sky-diving
and go-karting. If nature is your thing, take a drive out to Tidbinbilla Nature
Reserve and Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex, or simply
take a picnic by the lake.
For more information check out visitcanberra.com.au or pick up a
copy of BMA Mag from your nearest cafe or bar to find out what live music
and other events are happening during the festival week.
