Centre for a comfort stop before we take our scenic route to Bakewell for lunch. We
head over to Eyam which is one of the best preserved villages in the vicinity & is the
famous ‘plague village’, which went into voluntary quarantine when the plague was

ground breaking puppetry work by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet company, which
brings breathing and galloping horses to life on stage. It is a powerful story of a young
boy called Albert & his beloved horse, Joey, who has been requisitioned to fight for the

A relatively new event now takes place in the Castle of Groot-Bijgaarden
just outside Brussels, where a million tulips, hyacinth, daffodils and other
plants have been planted. In addition an indoor exhibition is held in the
castles 1,000 square meter greenhouses. At the same time the Belgian
King’s Royal Greenhouses at Laeken are open to the public. With 14,000
square meters they are the largest Greenhouses in the world.
