Please see insert for a complete list of services. Creative Services Our staff of creative artists is available to design results-producing advertisements and complete ad campaigns. While most services are included with your advertisement at no additional charge, original art and logo design work are available for an additional charge. Contact your account executive for more information. Photography The Courier-Tribune photography department is available by appointment. Photo shoots on location or in studio are available to enhance your advertisements at no additional charge, time permitting. Copies of photos from advertising or events are available online for an additional charge. Promotional and On-Site Promotional and on-site event opportunities are available. Contact your account executive for current packages. Co-op Service Your account executive can help locate unused co-op funds and furnish required documentation to satisfy vendor requirements. Research tools include, but are not limited to, Scarborough Research, Arbitron, Buxton, 2010 EASI/Ad-ology Annual Receipts Analysis based on the latest reported data from the IRS, US Bureau of Economic Analysis, and the US Census Bureau. Pulse Research consumer data exclusive to Randolph County residents and Courier-Tribune readers is updated quarterly. Electronic Ad Delivery We accept ads in Acrobat PDF file format. Adsend - you can use AP satellite technology to transmit ads to our facility. There is a per-ad fee. Acrobat PDF file format is used. Call 1-800-2-ADSEND for more information. Our Adsend code is NCASC. Internet delivery is available through AdTRansit.com. There is a per-ad fee. Proof of Publication The Courier-Tribune’s method for proof of publication is the Stephens Media FTP E-tear system. The advertiser agrees to accept Courier-Tribune electronic tearsheets as proof of publication and services rendered for all ads that run in The Courier-Tribune and affiliate publications. Advertisers may view and download pages displaying their advertisements on the day of publication by logging into The Courier-Tribune secure E-tear site at https://ftp.stephensmedia.com. Standard paper tearsheets are available for $5 each. Up to four insertions may be eligible for repeat discounts within a 7-day period. Repeat discounts are not available on Wednesday or Sunday. No copy changes permitted on repeat discounted ads. Additionally, our Wednesday Total Market Coverage (TMC) program provides delivery of preprints to non-subscriber households (in select zip codes). Newsprint Quantity Requirements • Minimum preprint quantity: 5000 • There is an additional $5 per thousand charge on any preprint buy that is less than full run. 4 Shipping Procedures • All preprints should be stacked consistently with alternating folds at reasonable intervals. They must be well-jogged, securely banded and protected for shipment. All four corners of each pallet should be banded. Pallets MUST NOT be double stacked. • Inserts scheduled for multiple insertions must be packaged in like quantities (e.g., 45,000 preprints to be distributed on three separate dates [15,000 each] need to be packaged in three separate quantities of 15,000 each, not in 45,000 bulk). • Shipments must be delivered to newspaper. The Courier-Tribune does not provide pick-up service. • The Courier-Tribune is not responsible for preprinted materials after 30 days from delivery. Contact your account representative for more information. 7 Policies Deadlines and Specifications • Supplied files for all ads should be electronic PDF files. • Deadlines for ads that require design are 4 days in advance of regular deadlines. • All color ads, including process, spot or duo tone, must be supplied in CMYK format. Type Specifications • Rich Text Rules and Type - Type smaller than 12 points should not be reversed on a color background or on a black screen background less than 70%. No rich text. • Fine Rules and Small Type - Rules that are 4 points or thinner should be printed in black only and not screened. Small type (less than 7-point sans serif and 12-point serif) should be printed in black only and not screened. No rich black text. Policy - All Classifications • Local rates apply to advertisers that maintain a permanent store, office or outlet within Randolph County, NC, through which goods or services are sold directly to the general public on a regularly scheduled basis. A local street address and local phone number are required in the advertisement to qualify for local rates. All local display rates are net. • The Courier-Tribune is not liable for any error in or any omission of any advertisement published or ordered to be published, unless a proof of such advertisement is requested by advertiser and proof returned to newspaper office by deadline with errors or corrections plainly noted, or in the event newspaper fails to publish an advertisement as requested by advertiser, and are notified of such omission. Newspaper shall (1) in the case of error duly noted, prorate the cost of the advertisement in such proportion as the space occupied by the noted error bears to the whole space occupied by such advertisement, or (2) in the case of omission, publish the advertisement in the next possible issue at advertisers normal rate unless requested otherwise by the advertiser. Claims for adjustments occasioned by any error or omission must be made no later than 30 days after the publication date on which the error or omission occurred. Kill Orders/Composition Changes • A charge will be made for ads killed (either orally or in writing) after the final make-up deadline. This charge will equal 50% of the reserved space at the advertiser’s applicable rate. Composition changes requested after proof correction deadlines are not guaranteed and will be subject to a charge equal to 50% of the reserved space at the advertiser’s applicable rate. • Two ad proofs are provided free of charge. Additional proofs may be assessed charges of $25.00 for each proof exceeding two. Late Ad Reservations • Late ads are accepted only in emergency situations and when production capacity can handle the late ad. No proofs on late ads, and no credit adjustments will be granted due to production errors. Policies and Regulations • No preprints accepted for non-subscriber delivery without minimum distribution of an equal quantity in The Courier-Tribune. • Printed inserts must contain advertising from a single advertiser only. Brokered local advertising is not accepted. Copy and Contract Regulations • The Courier-Tribune reserves the right, upon 30 days notice, to change the rates herein listed. Advertiser reserves the right to accept such changes, or in event of an increase in rate, to cancel contract without rate adjustment, provided cancellation is delivered in writing to The Courier-Tribune within the 30-day notice period. A continuance of advertising after the new rates go into effect will constitute acceptance of them under all other terms of contract. • Advertising simulating news can be accepted but must carry the words “Paid Advertisement” at the top of the advertisement in at least 8-point type and be set in typeface other than The CourierTribune style. (Such sections containing both individual ads and editorial style materials require a statement of sponsorship on page 2 or 3 in a reasonably prominent type and position.) • Advertising agencies that receive invoices on behalf of local retail advertisers are acting agents for these advertisers. Advertisers are at all times liable for payment of all account balances due and all other liabilities. Any language in any advertising insertion orders or other documents to the contrary is void and without effect. • ROP contracts will be accepted from an individual or may be drawn to include subsidiaries. • Advertisers signing annual Dollar Volume contracts will be billed at rates on current rate card and re-billed at higher Dollar Volume rate if contract is not fulfilled. Should advertiser exceed their spending to the next dollar volume level, advertiser will be eligible to receive the lower rate for the remaining term of the contract in force when 30-day advance notification has been received from advertiser and appropriate addendum has been submitted and approved by Publisher. • Advertisers and agencies forwarding orders that contain incorrect rates or conditions are advised that the advertising will be inserted and charged at the regular schedule of rates in force, and in accordance with the regulations set forth in the current rate card. • Certain restrictions apply to the usage of URL addresses.
