VOLUNTEERS MAKE KSPS RUN
This year over 600 volunteers contributed nearly 6,000 hours of
service to KSPS—including staffing our reception desk each weekday,
taking calls during the membership campaigns, keeping our database
up to date, serving on our board of directors, packing and mailing and
serving as hosts of our on-air membership campaigns. We appreciate —
and depend on — their dedicated support.
KSPS Honors Volunteer Mary Rush
The 2013 Volunteer of the Year is Mary Rush. Mary
first came to us in 2010 as a pledge telephone
volunteer. She has been helping out ever since, handling
complicated work such as supervising telephone
volunteer groups during membership campaigns.
Everyone enjoys her cheery demeanor and
her unflagging determination to get the job
done well. Mary believes that volunteering
is a way to spread the word about KSPS and
PUBLIC TELEVISION
its positive programming. Not only is she
an inspiring volunteer, she is a contributing
3911 S Regal St
member to the station. Mary exemplifies the
Spokane, WA 99223
best in the volunteer spirit that keeps KSPS

running strong.

KSPS Mission
KSPS Public Television enriches
lives and communities through
quality programs and services
that educate, inform, engage and
inspire a lifetime of learning and
exploration.
A LETTER FROM GARY STOKES KSPS General Manager
As you can see from reading this report, it’s been a busy year for your
Friends at KSPS: 26,280 hours of television across three channels; and
nearly four million dollars raised in support of the mission to bring you
the best in PBS and KSPS programs including PBS NewsHour, Daniel
Tiger, Northwest Profiles and Downton Abbey. And after nearly 50 years
of being part of Spokane Public Schools, KSPS is now on its own, working
to be the best partner to Spokane and all of the communities we serve —
from Moses Lake to Missoula, from Coeur d’Alene to Calgary, from East
Wenatchee to Edmonton.
While we’ve had some changes and challenges this year, our goal remains the same: to
enrich lives and communities through quality programs and services that educate, enlighten
and inform, inspiring a lifetime of learning and exploration.
This report reflects our successes in those areas but none of it would be possible without
your support. Your generosity continues to amaze and inspire us to do more. And as we all
begin this new adventure, your help will be even more important.
As you can see, nearly 70% of the funds to support the station come from our Friends…
viewers and members like you. You provide the dollars to procure and produce the
programs, to maintain and improve the infrastructure and to help ensure that we’ll continue
growing and learning right along with you and your family.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to be part of your life and your home…thank you
for supporting our people and our programs…and most importantly thank you for another
year of doing what we love…for those who love what we do.
Sincerely,
