Our information services are free and available to everyone. We have specialised databases and up to date
reference material on all issues relating to disability along with in-store brochures. Our Information
Consultants have extensive knowledge and experience of disability, health and community services in the
Southland region.

We have an expansive range of aids and products for sale at Not For Profit prices.

DRC Southland Equipment Store offers a range of mobility equipment including manual wheelchairs, walkers,
a mobility scooter, ramps and crutches available on short or long term hire.

Community ‘help with forms’ station
12 week internship / mentoring programme for persons with a disability wishing to

DRC Southland Board of Trustees and staff are dedicated to providing the information and referral service
first identified by a Southland disability needs survey conducted in 1991.
As a member of the New Zealand Federation of Disability Information Centres we promote implementation
of the New Zealand Disability Strategy and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
DRC Southland is reliant on the generosity of others such as COGS, Community Trust of Southland, ILT
Foundation, Invercargill Licensing Trust Staff Charitable Trust, Lotteries Commission, The Southern Trust,
Central Lakes Trust and Rotary Club of Invercargill for financial grants to help fund the day to day running
of the organisation.

Bookings must be made at least 24 hours in advance but people should
book the DRC Southland Courtesy Van as soon as they receive their
hospital appointment.
Invercargill people attending appointments at Southland (Kew) Hospital
can request their appointments be between 9am and 3pm.

The service is for all Invercargill people who live within the
Invercargill city boundary with a hospital appointment
 Can I bring my children or support person?
Yes, depending on the bookings for that trip child/ren and a
support person are welcome. A child car restraint may be
available.
 Can I use this service if my child has a hospital
appointment?
Yes, a parent or caregiver can access the DRC Courtesy Van
with their child/ren.
