to uniting communities along the James by promoting the
river as a common resource, while working to preserve its
environmental health, beauty, heritage, economic vitality and
recreational value. JRAC serves as a forum for the many diverse
issues and challenges along the James in Central Virginia.

Learn about the lives of common Civil War
soldiers, the inventions and engineering feats that
the war brought to the James River. Help design and
build models of the Dutch Gap canal. Build fortifications

another Civil War site for musket and artillery demos and firings. A

20th celebration of the James
River Parade of Lights! Each
year, boaters decorate their vessels and converge on the James
River for a boat parade marking the
festive holiday season. Boaters are
encouraged to register their boats to participate in the parade.
Viewing sites are available in Chesterfield and Henrico counties
