Exciting News, Activities and Events at Pioneer Ridge by Del Webb • September 2009
Greetings!
From Our Lifestyle Director
Fall is a fantastic time of year—the
leaves are changing, Halloween and
Thanksgiving are just around the
corner, and the weather is gorgeous!
Fall is also a fabulous time of year
at Pioneer Ridge. First, September
and October mark the anniversary
months for our Grand Opening of
the Sales Park and the Prairie Lodge.
We are proud to celebrate four years
of successful sales and the third year
of enjoying the Lodge and its worldclass offerings!
“Life is like riding a bicycle. You don’t fall off
unless you stop pedaling.” - Claude Pepper
This October we will also be celebrating in fall fashion with fun
events like the Luminary Walk and
our Happiness Presentation. Bring
out the family and friends and share
the fun with them too! Party Planner events include our 3rd annual
Clambake and Art Show (open to
homeowners only). We have much
to look forward to!
As always we are happy to welcome
our newest homeowners. We look
forward to seeing you in the community and at events! And thank
you for making us the fastest-selling
community in Northeast Ohio!
Welcome Home,
Your Del Webb Sales Team
This has become our mantra at the Lodge as we jump into
a new season full of possibilities. Want to impress your
friends and neighbors? Come to our Juggling Seminar
on Tuesday, October 13th and learn to keep everything in
the air. You simply need to bring your sense of humor and a willingness to try.
On Wednesday, October 21st, we are pleased to offer “Happiness is a Choice”
at 10 a.m. This extremely popular free presentation is given by St. John
West Shore and is guaranteed to leave you feeling uplifted and grateful.
In the spirit of Halloween, we are thrilled to present “Real Ohio Ghost Stories”
on Saturday, October 24th at 7 p.m. Bring a carved pumpkin and enter it into our
jack-o’-lantern contest, then listen to some spooky tales told by Bette Lou Higgins
and enjoy some dessert with your neighbors. It’s sure to be frightening and fun!
On Friday the 30th, we’re taking a Progressive Wine Tour through the colorful
fall foliage of Western New York and Pennsylvania, where we’ll visit six unique
wineries, sample their harvest and enjoy a progressive dinner along the way. Be
sure to visit www.ourpioneerridge.net to learn about these events and others like
Ladies’ Day Out, Ballroom Dancing, Knitting Circle, Weight Watchers, In-home
Dog Training and our trip to the theater to see “Rumors”. Life at Pioneer Ridge is
about experiencing something different and inspiring you to be creative. At the
Lodge, we’re pedaling every single day – join us!
Hope to see you soon! - Laurie Kortowich, Lifestyle Director
We extend a warm welcome to the following new homeowners: Howard
& Joan Coleman, Michael & Karen Reppucci, Grace Metro, Donna Warford,
Janice Kimmel, and Doug and Lynne Sebring. Looking forward to meeting

Window
Cleaning and Care
As we move out of summer and into cooler weather, here is some information that
will be useful in the operation and maintenance of the windows in your Del Webb
home.
Use a standard glass cleaner to clean all
glass. We do not recommend the use of
razor blades for cleaning glass surfaces,
since there is the risk of injury and possible damage to the window itself. We also
do not recommend using power washers,
as they may cause water penetration inside the house.
Keep the tracks clean on all slide-by window units, especially the sliding doors in
your home. This will help to eliminate the
clogging of the weep systems that are critical in the operation of the window during
a rain. Note: It is normal for a heavy rain
to fill the tracks of a window. However, if
water overflows the track assembly, then a
good cleaning of the weep hole system is
required. This is considered homeowner
maintenance.
To keep your sash easy to move, lubricate
the track with a silicone spray. Do not
use WD40 for window tracks, as it leaves
a residue that may collect dust and other
materials that can make window operation more difficult.
If you suspect a draft, reopen the window, then lightly push outward while
closing the window. This will force the
interlock to seal properly. Some air infiltration around windows is normal, especially during high winds. If you are having
difficulty locking a window, reopen the
window, then lightly push outward while
closing the window. This will help align
the locks and subsequently make it easier
to latch.
If you suspect a seal failure (fog between
the panes) check for moisture on both
the inside and the outside of the glass by
wiping your finger across the glass, before
calling for service.
