ERGONOMICS
The color impression is formed by the stimulation of the eye cells by light of different
wavelengths corresponding to the three additive primary colors of RGB color
model.
We can see an analog image (e.g. print on paper) because it reflects the light from
another source. How we perceive a color depends not only on the properties of
such an analog image but also on the composition of the incident light. It affects
even the impression of colors displayed on the monitor screens illuminated by a
spot light. If the same image is illuminated by the light of different composition
(different color), every time the reflected light will also be different therefore every
time we will perceive different colors of the same image.
Nowadays, the color assessment is supported and facilitated by its objective color
measurement with high-quality apparatus (spectrometer). However, even in such
cases it is necessary to create an ergonomic environment that ensures
comfortable and efficient work depending on the nature and stage of the production
process.
In the printing process a color image is created in the devices which are a source of
light themselves (monitors) and on analog prints viewed in reflected light. In the
former case, the color impression is formed under the influence of light emitted by
the device of the above-mentioned three colors of RGB color model, i.e. the socalled RGB color space. In the latter case under the influence of achromatic light
(R=G=B), filtered through complementary CMY colors and achromatic black (K), in
the so-called CMYK color space.
Within each of such spaces it is possible to obtain a different range of colors, known
as color gamut. Also, each device and each printing technique is characterized by
its own limited color gamut, resulting from technical parameters (eg. the properties
of the printing substrate). For instance gamuts of monitors are poorer than the
range of colors distinguished by the human eye, and gamuts of the printing devices
(CMYK) are poorer than the color gamut of RGB monitors. For this reason, it is not
possible to achieve the perfect color reproduction, but only the most similar colors.
For optimal color reproduction all the colors that the human eye can recognize are
defined in the device-independent color space CLE Lab whereas ICC (International
Color Consortium) introduced the tables called color profiles associated with each
device and printing technology to allow the color conversion between the gamuts of
different devices and matching with the most similar counterpart.
Color management technique is used for converting by CMM modules (color
management modules) the colors between the color spaces of individual
devices via the Lab (PCS). This technique is not perfect and there are always
differences between the original colors and the colors of reproduction.
Even the best color management technology does not automatically ensure a
perfect color reproduction, and there is always a need to assess the differences
between the original colors and the colors of the test print and make adjustments
before starting the print-run. This process is called color matching. The assessment
of differences is performed visually and with the help of measuring instruments.
The principle of color matching is making comparisons of the color under the
same conditions at all stages of printing production.
Since in practical applications the parameter defining the spectral composition of
the light source is its color temperature, the only solution that provides professional
color quality control is to illuminate all workstations with the light that is identical with
the test color temperature and to isolate such workstations from the influence of
other incident light sources.

Hence, the optimal assessment and correction of color in printing production
requires the creation of control workstations designed reasonably in respect of
ergonomics, illuminated by the light of identical test temperature, and isolated from
the influence of other incident spot lighting.
All devices of LETTERO COLOR MATCHING program (like all other Lettero's
devices) are designed to implement the principle of optimization and regardless of
the specific solutions to perform specific tasks, are composed of the following basic
modules:

Professionalism of the image processing does not mean only the highest quality electronic equipment, but also
the environment where the equipment operates. A professional studio of image processing should be equipped
achromatically (in white, gray or black colors), which allows avoiding any interference of the precise color
assessment of the color light reflections in analog original material and monitors. The figure shows a simple but
fully equipped professional studio with lettero (LCL, CTU. CTS) equipment.

Profi view box (PVB) illuminators allow an objective assessment of the color on
the analog originals and test prints (proof) in the computer image processing and
printing products designing and are used for work at computer stations which are
not protected from incident external lighting.
All models of the PVB illuminators are equipped with light sources of
the test temperature of 5000K (D50) and/or 6500 K (D65) (depending
on the model) with the lighting regulation and side curtains protecting
the evaluated original from incident external light.

CTU color control unit stations are designed to work in a seated position in the design studios and
computer imaging studies and preparation of publications, where the constant evaluation and
comparison of the colors of the analog originals or a test print (proof) with colors generated on computer
screens is most important. Optimal working conditions are ensured by the illumination of the test
temperature and the possibility of almost total isolation of the working space from incident spot light.
Key features of CTU workstations include:
n illumination of the entire working space with the light of the test temperature of 5000 K,
n almost complete isolation of the workplace from the influence of standard lighting,
n smooth adjustable light intensity,
n working time indicators of the light sources,
n monitor can be mounted on the side swivel bracket,
n easy attachment of the analog originals and prints on magnetic screen.
CTU units are intended to be mounted on existing standard desks and worktables of a
height of approx. 70-75 cm. The offer is complemented with dedicated CTS stands with
underneath shelves for computer and other peripherals.

CCS-SP color control station is designed for visual assessment and color measurement using a
spectrometer on the prints of different format sizes made in any printing technology.
The station consists of lamp (lamps) with a test temperature of 5000K (D50), inclined worktop
which allows comfortable work in a standing position, trolley with removable handles for different
types of spectrometer, holder for the computer monitor connected to a spectrometer and a
frame based on leveled feet or on casters with brakes. Sections of drawers can be used as a

Plate Correction Station

SK correction stations are used to assess and chemical correction of developed
offset plates.
They are produced in two formats: B2 and B1 and mounted on a frame or base
with drawers.
SK correction stations consist of:

surface,

CMU ink mixer is a device used for mixing inks in containers from
1 kg to 30 kg, equipped with three stirrers of acid proof steel for
containers of 1-2 kg, 5-10 kg and 15-30 kg (mounted on a
telescopic stand), and drive unit with universal gripper for
containers. The mixer is completed with a height-adjustable stand,
adapted stirrers operating in small and large containers.
A smaller version of mixers for containers of 1 kg and 2 kg is also
available.
A controller of a smooth change of mixing rotations is an available

Pull-out Shelving

SZSM drawer cabinets with backlight are designed primarily for archiving and developing the
materials and large format documents. They constitute a design combination of drawer cabinet
SZ and illuminated work table.
SZSM are manufactured as standard in three formats - B2, A1, B1, and two versions holding 8
and 13 drawers.
Double-layer workbench consists of opal plexiglass diffuser and glass pane.
RWO pull-out shelving are cabinets with open sliding shelves to facilitate access to stored
materials and equipment.
RWO shelving, similarly to SZ cabinets and SS sections are manufactured as standard in two
heights holding 3 and 5 shelves, and in four sizes - B2, A1, B1, A0. They are also equipped with
holes and centering pins which allow the creation of stable, stacked sets.
RWO shelving are made of powder-coated steel and equipped with a worktop made of laminated
furniture board.

printing forms (polymers) after completion of the printing process.
The printing form washing is automatic with optional dispensing of
ecological detergents.

Lettero washers are made as the welded vinidur cuvettes on the
frame of powder-coated steel.
PPS washer is characterized by a flat or cylindrical backlight
mounted on the rear wall.
In a standard version the washer is supplied with a typical spray
faucet set on the right side and a drainage set on the left side.
A different layout and type of components of equipment can be

Casters with brakes ensure an easy change of location and stability.

Dryer Trolley For Offset Plates
for color and printing
WSB trolleys are used for drying, transport and temporary storage of developed
offset plates within the immediate vicinity of the printing press.
Trolleys come out in the dimensions suitable for plates in two formats: B1 and
B2, can comprise 10 or 20 plates and are equipped with a drip trough.
WSB trolleys are made of powder-coated steel.
