class race suit
RPM has led the development of racewear
in Australia for over 10 years and was the
first to introduce the super lightweight RPM
ProTech in 2004. From this the development
of the next generation of suit for Australia
has come in the form of this RPM XTech2.
This is a 2-layer garment that meets the
stringent FIA 8856-2000 tests.
The RPM XTech2 is one of the most
technically advanced suits ever released in
global Motor sports. It is some four times
more absorbent than previous professional
suits and weighs only a stunning 300g/m2.
The RPM XTech2 is the choice of leading
drivers in all classes of motorsport.

Standard XTech2 Styles
Lab tests have been carried out on the rate of
sweat absorption and breathing of the new
Nomex materials used in the RPM XTech2.
Much has been written in recent times about
the weight of race suits, ‘breath-ability’ and
sweat absorption as contributing factors to
a drivers performance, more specifically the
V8 Supercars’ Clipsal 500 and Darwin race
events as well as Indy Car where extreme
temperatures have been experienced.

temperatures with heightened potential for
heat exhaustion and fatigue whilst racing in

drivers, Craig Lowndes, Jamie Whincup,
Paul Dumbrell, Steve Richards, Mark Skaife
& Glen Seton. All tested prototype models
and their valuable feedback aided the final
development of the RPM XTech2 product.

In September 2008, Bell Racing Europe was
the first manufacturer in the world to certify a
helmet to the new CMH Standard, developed
jointly by the FIA Institute and the Snell
Memorial Foundation. Driver helmets were so
far made for adults only and the standards
used to approve them were tested on . Adult
helmets tend to be too heavy and too big
for younger drivers. The new Snell-FIA CMH
standard has been scientifically developed to
create helmets designed for all young racing
drivers. Researchers examined and measured
the human head from age six onwards and
several helmet shapes and sizes were defined. It
led to the creation of a Youth Helmet Standard
that will soon have to be attained by all young
drivers helmets. Very attractive design based on
HP3 and adapted to young drivers’ morphology.

After cleaning the shield with an ultrasound process,
a layer of chrome is applied on the external face
under vacuum conditions. The various colours
are then obtained by applying a second layer of
silicium monoxide that will reflect the desired
colour depending of its thickness. These shields are
then fitted with our Double Screen Anti Fog system
(DSAF) for perfect fog-control.

The LW2 is designed for drivers who DO NOT disconnect their devices
from their helmets. The round piece of metal with the holes in it IS the

down by the Sebring in 2007. Utilising Cobra’s new proprietary
closed moulding system, the Sebring Pro is now 50% more torsionally
rigid but is still the lightest seat in its class. The shoulders and head
restraint areas have been re-engineered to suit the tallest of drivers
(up to 190cms) whilst still retaining the correct geometry between
shoulders, side head restraints and harness slots for full functioning

Exhaust Wrap
& Accessories
The first step in controlling
under-bonnet temperatures is to use DEI’s
exhaust wrap. DEI exhaust wrap is designed
to keep heat contained within the metal pipes
of the exhaust system. This keeps the heat
expanded longer increasing the rate of gas
flow out of the engine compartment header
and exhaust system pipes. Wrapping your
headers with DEI’s exhaust wrap will reduce
under-hood temperatures by up to 70% while
providing additional horsepower, engine
protection and passenger comfort.
All exhaust wraps are not alike! DEI exhaust
wrap is manufactured with a hi-temp fiberglass
composite material and then infused with a
proprietary coating to enhance heat retention
and expanded durability of the exhaust wrap.
DEI is the only manufacturer to add 1/4”
guidelines to the exhaust wrap to ensure
proper installation without the guess work.
